Great Canadian Mass Shipment Bones Race

I'd guess they are still waiting on the Canadian Government for the Brokerage Permit.

I've been trying to follow everything on Canadian status, and I've seen a couple mentions of the government being responsible for the delays, but I wonder where that is coming from? The last official word said they were waiting on UPS, no mention of the government being involved. Has Reaper made any actual claims along those lines or is this just speculation?

I imagine it's because UPS is terrible in terms of brokerage fees. It's a 5-10% tax but UPs charges 10-30%. As the base vampire level might be a little higher than $100 UPS will likely charge $30 brokerage fees. For $200 the fee goes to $50. Plus tax.

I try not to ship via UPS because of that. Been ripped off too often. Hopefully the delay related to talking with the government bypasses that. I'd hate to have to turn away my Bones because UPS is screwing me for $20-30.

We should be good. A quote from Reapers Official Facebook page:

To reiterate, these will not be through the standard UPS direct shipping process. It is a special program sanctioned by the Canadian government to allow duty/tax free shipping to the end customer. I am sure none of the companies you are dealing with have set this system up so you are getting these fees when they use UPS.

The original plan had been to use a Canadian 3rd party that is a partner of Reapers (RAFM) to distribute the packages across Canada. Something may have come up in the logistics of the project, or maybe RAFM was just not read to take on thousands and thousands of orders. Either way Reaper is doing the best they can to get our packages to us and not have us be charged extra.

10 of those days have been dedicated to ReaperCon. I plan to request an update directly once production kicks back up, but its best not to rush them as they have a lot on their plates trying to recover from the Con.

I've left a message on the Reaper Facebook page, and sent a PM, so we shall see if there has been any change, but the best bet is that their still waiting on the Government for the permit. If thats the case, its really not that shocking or disturbing... its Paperwork and the Canadian Government...

Still, hopefully we'll have more information (even if it is just 'still waiting') in a bit.

I'm still not blaming the government. Reaper had a plan, they changed it at the last minute after shipping had already been arranged. SOMEONE encouraged them to change their plans. I will let a fellow Canadian mention who is responsible:

I suspect it's less to do with persuasive arguments by UPS,

but more down to the number of problems they have shipping the metal Sophie's to RAMF for Canadian distribution, I belive that they ended up having so send a bunch of them out again direct from Texas (not sure why, but it was discussed in the KS comments and on here)
