or better yet, how can they still be in business? I might be wrong but it seems that anyone that has an opinion about UPS, it's always terribly negative. Myself, I have a passionate hatred for their practices based on my own experiences with them, especially in light of my experiences with 3 other shipping companies. (FedEx, Purolator and Canada Post)

I've had one delivery from UPS that I was pleased with (at the time) because there were no extra fees asked of me. But a week later they called to tell me that they had "box 2 of 3" and I would be billed duty (good to know ahead of time), but I also owed them duty for the already-delivered "box 1 of 3"!

The reason UPS is still in business, and this is just my guessing but I've seen it happen plenty in other sectors, is because they don't care about the consumer end. They cut deals to businesses like mail-order/internet retailers that do a lot of shipping. In exchange for charging the company a reduced price for shipping, lower than what the others have offered or are charging, they get an exclusivity deal where that shop ONLY uses UPS to do their shipping. And even if they offer an option other than UPS, say FedEx, then the shipping cost is typically double. UPS' size allows it to perpetuate itself despite crappy service and low consumer satisfaction. They're kind of like Microsoft, Wal-Mart, and Exxon in that regard.

My tracking number seems to be working as of 20:20 pm Friday night.

United States 07/12/2013 20:20 Received into UPS possession

07/12/2013 15:00 Departure

07/11/2013 12:11 Order Processed: Ready for UPS

(Also, my experiences with parcel delivery leave me equally unsatisfied with Canada Post, Fedex and UPS. However, strangely, I haven't been dinged for duty in years. I get a lot of vinyl and minis. Those are largely USPS deliveries from the States though, fulfilled by Canada Post, not UPS.)

My tracking is showing the same.

My best story is for UPS. They called me up and told me it was "impossible" to deliver a parcel because the bridge was out (we did have a bridge washed out ). After trying to explain to the dispatch person for a couple of minutes, the delivery guy finally took the phone from them and said, "So I can get there from the OTHER end of the road?"

My wife watched him do the delivery the next day. First he went to my neighbour across the road. Then he tried to deliver it to my garage (which has a separate driveway). Then, finally, he drove in our driveway (with the great big street numbers at the end of the lane).

Luckily they've already replaced the bridge so hopefully there won't be any complications this time....

My tracking info still states:

"A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated."

I would guess that means the Canadian shipments are on a pallet and have been sent to Canada. Once they arrive they will be scanned and then we will see our tracking info.

Went to check... and now it isn't giving me any details like it did before about being processed, departed, or received... Maybe just stupid website.

UPS *squinting*... I've got my eyes on you.
