One point I'd like to add to Darsc's: We are not UPS's customers, Reaper is. We're UPS's product; we're what UPS sells to its customer. Until the package is delivered, it belongs to Reaper (from UPS's point of view) which is why they won't discuss it with us if we call them.

Twitter:

@ReaperMini: Western Canada: there was a holdup in Ontario. UPS told us that your stuff should arrive in their system today, tracking live tomorrow.

Praise be to the Rantium Gods. A signal from on high!

That's all I wanted.

That's all I ever wanted.

The thing is this Customs story seems to contradict what had previously been told to us by Reaper (the fact that a truck was en route from Ontario to Alberta).

Goods can enter the country, be shipped from one end to the other, but still not have cleared customs - as long as the shipment is sealed, then it can be transshipped to the nearest customs office of it's destination (or point where it will be broken up into multiple smaller domestic shipments), where customs will clear it, inspect it, seize it, ask lots of questions before doing the previous 3 items, etc.. New importer, relatively new product (and not seen in this quantity) tends to make any customs official curious.

The shipments for Eastern Canada and Western Canada are not being cleared by the same customs office - there may be a customs delay for the Western shipment.

I don't see anything as of yet requiring Reaper to "own up" to it. They have stated that it was placed in UPS hands, shipped to Canada with the initial entry point of Ontario, but with two separate major shipments (one for Eastern and one for Western Canada). If UPS has told them that there is a customs delay, what do you expect/want Reaper to do?

Tell us that. Which they hadn't done so up until today.

Good point. Now it seems (based on the recent Twitter update) this was the case, that it was stuck in Ontario, waiting on customs. Not sure why it was so hard for Reaper to figure this out - I ship across the border all the time and occasionally have customs hold up our shipments - usually a quick phone call to fedex solves the issue or at least gives me a status on the situation which I can pass to clients.

Regardless, I'm glad that things are getting moving.

Man, could you imagine the frustration if your a western Canadian who relies on the kickstarter updater for information?

I actively look (though i shouldn't have too) on the forum here and facebook and STILL would have missed that update since its on twitter.

That slightly rustles my jimbobs.

I hear you and agree. If it wasn't posted here I wouldn't have heard about it. I don't go on twitter. Not a fan of Bacefook either but am on there only occasionally for family obligations.

That's the one thing that I would have thought would be easy for Reaper to organize... All updates in one place. Preferably in the Kickstarter. Why is that so difficult?

FYI, this was posted by someone on KS comments a few hours before Kit (I'm assuming its Kit) posted on Twitter today

Regarding west Canada this is the response I received this morning
Thanks for your inquiry and we know nothing more than what you are seeing on UPS.com. We have contacted our UPS representative to look into this.
Our speculation is that it is stuck in customs and waiting for customs clearance, but we do not know that for a fact. Once it has cleared customs, then it will hit the UPS system and you will see movement of your package on the UPS.com tracking detail. The tracking number kicks in when the freight shipment crosses the border and the packages get checked into the UPS system.
In the past, we have seen a pallet of shipments take up to 30 days to clear customs and enter the UPS system.
Thanks!

So looks like before it was posted on Twitter, they had been in contact but UPS hadn't contacted them back. I doubt they would have considered doing an official KS update for information that everyone concerned with will find out less than 24 hours later.

It would appear posts from this topic have been removed. As such it has been un-followed from anyone that has been following the topic.

Anyway, I'm glad things are back on track.

Man, you forgot to play up the 1000th post! I think this is now the largest thread on the forums by a LONG yard!

For those that haven't heard yet, I have been informed from on high, or fairly on high (I hope) that the Canadian PO Box Kickstarter shipments are going to be sent out by truck on July 30th. From their, they should take a week to make it to the border and then will be thrust into the hands of Canada Post. I was told to expect it to be another week or two from then.

Not the greatest of news (a month and a half of summer break gone), but it is news, and now we know when to start expecting them.
