KEEP CALM

and

DO SOME IMPULSE BUYING

Been there, done that; ordered myself two Dark Sword minis last night. To be fair though, I am planning to paint one to enter into the current WAMP painting contest.

... Must not buy more minis before Bones arrive... must not buy more minis before Bones arrive!

I have been doing both. I just purchased the last LTPK that I needed (#3) as well as a half dozen of the existing Bones.

I figure that the painting of them can race my Vampire+Add ons.

I also can't seem to stop myself from going to Kickstarter multiple times a day. It hurts my wallet.

I raided Noble Knight for several hundred bucks worth of AD&D 2nd Edition.

I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to lug that box home. Across four lanes of rush hour traffic.

And I know what you're thinking. "But Buglips, why not just drive to the post office?"

You have never tried to get in and out of my driveway. I'll take my chances on foot.

My concern exactly.

I don't want to have to wait 6 months for my bones

Would you have preferred reaper just sending them from the US and stating the actual pledge amount for customs? Honestly I'm quite vague on this, but it does sound like Reaper is trying to make the customs and import tax bullet for it's International backers as small a caliber as possible.

In the case of UPS, they're eating the whole bullet for Canadians after many of us explained (cried in dismay) how that shipping service can result in surprise fees, brokerage charges, etc.

So this delay is because they're trying to work out a better way to get us our stuff without extra cost or penalty. That part of the plan is good - what's gumming up the works is waiting for the government to approve their paperwork as a broker. So that's not really Reaper's fault - and even with the sometimes glacial pace of government bureaucracy that's something I expect will be sorted out soonish.

The minute it is, our stuff starts moving.

Also, as I understand it, Reaper is still assembling the packages for shipping and storing them until the paperwork goes through, so the only ones that will experience a significant delay are the Canadian backers who have a light order. Mid-tier orders would be completed about the (hopeful) time Reaper gets the go ahead, so delays on those would be minimal, and everything that's been packed up can go in one big flurry of shipments, if everything works out correctly.

Yesterday I got two large boxes from Reaper. I open the first and am greeted by a bunch of pink foam. I dig around and find nothing. I dig some more and find...more nothing! At this point I think maybe someone at Reaper is punking me. I dig to the very bottom and finally find a couple blisters, it's the Reapercon Sophies I ordered. The other box is packed, it has the t-shirt and all the other swag from the convention. Maybe Reaper can smuggle the vampire order into Canada in pieces, since these boxes seem to make it across the border just fine.

It's like the old adage, How do you avoid getting a hangover? Don't stop drinking. I get by by backing more kickstarters, currently there's

And of course looking at all the unpainted minis helps too.

I am a little dyslexic. All I see is must buy more minis.

If I keep doing that I won't need the kickstarter fulfilled, as I am already getting swamped with unpainted minis. And at my current rate of painting I have a decade worth of paint, before the KS paints arrive. I still want my bones though.

Hey, bones are practically indestructible. I say we build a trebuchet somewhere in upstate New York. Ship all the Canadian orders to Watertown, drag them to the woods and have at it. We can meet up near Gananoque, then head out to gather them up.

Here are two little guys for the new year: Bones vege-(or vegy-)pygmies, sculpted by Kevin Williams.
In the game lore, they are plant creatures arising from infestations of russet mold, so I wanted to incorporate rusty orange- and red-browns with the green.
(And if you're still in the holiday spirit, you can sing a rousing round of "Rusty the Moldman".)
I spent about 2-3 hours on each.
It was fun to play with a few oranges, reds, and purples, along with the greens.
I thought about adding foliage or other material on the bases, but decided to call these two done for now.
      Enjoy!
      - Derek

As you continue exploring the cathacomb, you catch sight of a ghastly humanoid creature walk in your direction. The stench of death and rot lingered around its undead forms. You recognize with horror, a minion of the dark necromancer queen Kiaransalee. This is a 77159, Ghast sculpted by James Van Schaik.

Well, finally painted him - and I'm pretty satisfied. I heavily borrowed/copied from this post: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/84520-77594-solar-angel/#comment-1788530,

It went better than I expected.

I may end up doing a bunch of image dumps - I've painted a lot this year and maybe I should just post them in sets.

This one, though, deserves its own post, I think.  I painted up the Green Dragon Hatchling from waaaay back in Bones 2, showed it to my wife, and she made some suggestions - so here you have it painted up as a Swamp Dragon from the Discworld, as kept by Lady Sybil of Ankh-Morpork.  I gave them a collar and name plate, and since they're a tame dragon, I gave them a few chew toys, including a Rolly Ball just like Rex of "Snake Discovery," as can be seen here:

      It's Krampus time! 🙂
So, the challenge here was to use the Holiday Paint Set as the main/core palette.  Which turned out to be a no challenge at all.  This figure is pretty much calling for a certain palette to be used on it.  Never the less, the fun has been had with this one 🙂
All sorts of comments are always welcomed!
