My Reaper BONES kickstarter has arrived!

Recommended Posts

Just finished my inventory. No whole minis are missing, and I haven't noticed any missing body parts (though I didn't look closely).

I did get an extra candelabra. I'll take Reaper's advice and just keep it. ::):

I got my Bones... now that's a huge pile of unpainted minis...

add-ons: 4 nova marines, 1 candelabra

missing: bat swarm, dain

I don't care much for bats, but dain? one of my all-time fav minis? hell no, I'm coming to get it! ::):

Only one mistake for me as near as I can tell; I got 8 of the pathfinder goblin warriors instead of 4 warriors and 4 pyros. I can live with that.

I miss nothing and have a bunch of stowaway Novas.

About half of the miniatures need some boiling, which works really well so far.

Finally Bones arrived to Spain yesterday. Just checked them today, and I'm only missing 1 mini (Duke Gerard) and the wings of one of the demons set (Rathauros?) are overbent to the point that when trying to put them in ist usual form appeared some cracks, so stopped inmediately :-((

Hopefully Reaper will fix the problems

Anyway a great deal and now off to find some time to paint

Jose

Inventory complete - no issues.

Thanks Jasper, the spreadsheet was awesomely helpful.

First couple of figures painted, trying to get my hand back in with the modern figures before I get into the fantasy figures I plan to use.

We just started to inventory the bones but what cannot be missed even at first glance is the lack of kaladrax!

[update] except for Kaladrax and his female familiar everything else i spresent. The townsfolk woman with childs and Ellen stone are nose less but everything else is fine.

Two! Two hundred and fifty five minis correctly accounted for! Ah ah ah. 2VRYoHx.png

Apart from Ellen "alien face" Stone and one or two others without noses, the only problem I noticed is that Deladrin, Female Assassin appears to be wielding a butter knife rather than her customary dagger. Although Im not known for being highly observant... Some of the lines on the pre-assembled figures arent great, so Ill probably have to get some Green Stuff to fix that up with, but thats just me being picky.

Now I just have to decide where to start painting. Ah, choice paralysis, my old friend...

In the meantime, Kaladrax is eyeing off the Balor mini from my D&D Board Games like a cat with a mouse. I remember when I got the Balor being very impressed with its size.

Bones inventoried all present except one each of the skeletons & zombies in the 'undead horde' - i'm assuming there is meant to be three each of skeleton swordsman, spearman, zombies? as I only got 2 each (checked against spreadsheet). Otherwise all look complete, no problems with faces or weapons I could see and no extras. :)

No, there are only two each. (With the exception of the zombie with its hands down, which had two in the "Dungeon Attack" and one in the "Original 30") Dont be confused by the item name or the picture - those refer to the store item, where they are sold in packs of 3.

You need to look at the first column, "# in set", not the "Miniature" column.

All of my miniatures arrived intact, and after a pretty exhausting stocktake referenced against Greg Botch's guide, I have everyone accounted for. There are quite a few instances of miniatures with warping (especially with weapons), but I'm hoping the boiling/freezing water thing works. I'm a bit concerned about some of the flimsier weapons ending up the way they are intended to look.

Also, Kaladrax is nearly as big as my cat. It is a seriously impressive piece of kit, and I personally don't think any player party should be able to survive an encounter. Just saying. Now I just need to find a shelf with enough wing clearance to house him!

Thanks Caffiene :) must have been going cross eyed cataloging them all - note to self while sitting down and inventorying 200+ minis - dont attempt to do it in one sitting :)

It's absolutely phenomenal, the detail on these models is unbelievable. I'll admit I had my doubts due to the fact that they're plastic and not metal.

I was simply wondering if anyone had any basic/intricate pointers for a miniatures beginner? I'm eager to get some paints and start blitzing.

I have no idea what paints to buy or anything, though, or the size of brush to use. I've read in places that it's possible to use acrylics, but I'd like to have the option of washing off any paints if I make a bad job, and acrylics are quite thick and durable, so I'm wondering what a better option would be.

My understanding of the process is this:

 1. Basecoat (prime),
 2. Dry,
 3. 2nd basecoat,
 4. Dry,
 5. Secondary colours,
 6. Dry,
 7. Detailed/minute colours,
 8. Dry,
 9. Finished.

I've been looking in awe at every single model, I believe I've found my guy: Athrand Nightblade, Elf Ranger.

You don't necessarily need to prime Bones, just don't thin your paint with water when applying the first coat.

Check out this thread (and the related ones, indexed at the top) for lots of helpful information.

Glad you're happy and welcome to the forums.
