Your Bones shiver with anticip-

Man I don't understand how people are all like *shrug* it's almost here.

It's worse and worse for me as I wait and wait for an email and then postage. Six months ago I forgot all about it as being a long way off, now that it's almost here.... it's almost here!!!! And so I'm getting more and more anticipatory.

This is exactly how I feel!

Bah. Put yourself in my shoes. I 'know' it's on a pallete waiting to go. I know it has been picked and packed becasue people who have ordered the exact same as me. Vampire x1 plus case x1 have had their confirmation emails that it's been shipped. But because of whatever the deal is with my own Governmentm whom I actually voted for in this case, it hasn't left Texas

I'm not sure if I can properly explain where I am right now.

I am actively trying not to get too antsy with anticipation. The more hyped up I get about something, the more of a let-down it gets when it finally happens. So I'm trying to be all, "Hey, I'm easy-going. It'll get here when it gets here." This is actually easier than it sounds because I am a Type B kind of personality.

That all said, though I am able to manage not to get all jittery with anticipation and Kermie-dance all over the house, and even better, not turn it into frustration directed at Reaper as many have, what I am not really able to control is my behavior lately. Namely, wanting to check the forums twice a night, hitting up a few other forums where I know they have threads about the shipping, keeping up with the Kickstarter comments (I read about 35+ pages of threads to catch me up from where the comments left off in late September. I forced myself not to go back as far as the day the Kickstarter ended). I'm even looking into some rp texts and gently harassing my friend about maybe learning either Dungeon World or Pathfinder to play our own game (seeing as she lives in Australia, minis are actually not useful at all, though I may take them out to block out fights for myself seeing as I'd be DM in this scenario).

And while I'm not remotely frustrated with Reaper peeps, I am mildly boggled and frustrated with other forums where they might go days without saying something in the thread I have bookmarked for them. "Aren't you excited? D:" I'm thinking. But I see many familiar names there as here so I assume most of them post their excited-about-Reaper stuff here and use the other forums for whatever main interest they have at that forum. Still...

So in the next few days, with Reapercon going on, I'll probably be a little twitchier than usual since Reaper and many of its regulars will be busy with that, shipping will be stalled, and information will trickle in about the in-progress shipments.

And, yep... I'm certainly interested and excited. Trying to be cruisy about it. Not expecting to be "let down" by what I get when I get it, but I figure it'll be just like Christmas where I get a gift, appreciate it, know it was exactly what was on my wishlist, and know that I'll get excited again about it later when I get to "properly play with it".

I suggest a strategy of Inverse Constructive Procrastination.

Constructive procrastination is the process of putting off doing something by doing something else you need to get done... In this case, what you need to do is to keep your mind occupied by focusing on something that doesnt need to be done and isnt in the immediate future, so that you distract yourself from the Vampire stuff while still having time to afterwards get your hype under control for your substitute attention-grabber.

seeing as she lives in Australia, minis are actually not useful at all

Heresy!

I think for me it's the 45 remaining Bones in queue. Every day extra is more of those done.

I don't blame the government, I blame UPS. If Reaper manages to pull off getting them into Canada without UPS screwing everyone I will be amazed.

Buglips, what's your favorite & least favorite Bones mini that you've painted so far?

Favourite would have to be the Purple Worm. I could paint dozens of those. Bugbear's a close second, on account of how gnarly his skin turned out in my WIP request thread.

Least favourite? The zombies. Easily the zombies. I painted the 6 I've got, I'll paint what's coming in the KS, but after that if I need more zombies they'll be the new "George" sculpt. I don't like to speak ill of any Bones, but I didn't enjoy those original Zombies.

Well that's actually the thing. I like the sculpt. In metal, I'd probably love them. But I think they made the transfer to Bones material.... poorly. They tend to be heavy on the flash, fiddly to paint, and just overall more pain in the butt work than I think they need to be. It's like they're too . . . frail? Like they're maybe too finely detailed to make the transition, so what you wind up with is just difficult.

*ETA: Of course if you don't mind a little extra TLC they're pretty cool, but I like my Bones quick, easy, and low-prep. The zombies weren't any of that.
