Stubbdog
Baugi, That is another thing to consider when figuring out the value of going to RCon next year. Cause you know there will be another auction..
ShadowRaven
I need to find myself a keeper/chaperon/voice of reason and restraint for next year. Oh and a passport
MiniCannuck
The other component that kept bidding down was the schedules for classes and games seemed to be out of synch. If you had a class in either of the morning slots, it overlapped with both game slots. Also, some of the games were at the hotel and much harder to jump into. That being said, I think Reaper did well with the changes they tried this year. Some worked and some didn't but you can't evolve without trying out new ideas. Dan, Michelle and I got another vampire box at the auction for a little over 500 Reaperbucks. They will be used to help get others into the hobby at our local store (we already have 5 boxes between us already). However, if we knew we had a chance at Martin's amazing painted Kally, we would have waited.
ladystorm
I noticed the uncanny absence of official and moderated presence. For a little while I thought you'd all left me in charge here, but then I realized there's no way anybody would ever do that. Ever. Even if I was the only one left, I wouldn't be in charge.you go ahead and think that. the conversation did come up... But I'm pretty proud of the fact that upon realizing we were operating under reduced manpower I did not go crazy. I was actually pretty good. I didn't even stage a coup and install myself as overlord or nothin.again, it was noticed. and conversed upon... mwahahah
Dr.Bedlam
...Bugs, the laws of reality and causality tend to BEND somewhat at Reapercon. I was offered my own Vampire box because I'd already paid for it, and it would save them shipping. In the course of the weekend, I could have acquired two more without much effort. Mostly I did not because it never occurred to me to SELL the things; mostly, I'd looked in MINE and thought, "Gautama Buddha in a bunny suit, how the scrog am I EVER going to find the time to PAINT all these?"

The best games to get reaperbucks though are the dungeon crawls and those run every hour and there were three of them. I would say that base on the reduced number of con bucks out there that the prices were actually just about where they should have been. Despite the DYOM going for only 900, only two items went for more (paint sets). If you inflate those numbers by a factor of ten then you are starting to approach the numbers they would have pulled when swag points were in general use. Quite frankly there were a lot more people participating in the bidding this year and there was a greater number of people actually winning bids. For me that was a win.

For me that was a win. I appreciated you breaking the items up into more smaller lots, even though I did accidentally bid (and won) on the lot that didn't contain the Sophie I wanted. (I checked out the video linked in another thread and what you said was "Is this the cowboy? No, it's the pirate" - I heard "cowboy" and started bidding). All was well though, as the fellow that won Cowgirl Sophie was willing to trade.

Sanael
Noel spent the weekend wandering around with a pillbug strapped to his back, is what it is! A totally awesome, gigantic pillbug! (it's a roly-poly, if you don't know pillbugs.)
vutpakdi
I think that there were also fewer Reaper bucks per person partly because there wasn't a game which was overly unbalanced in awarding of ReaperBucks. In the past, there was usually a game that was far and away the most lucrative ReaperBuck game. That combined with other factors including a larger number of attractive prizes probably helped limit the ReaperBuck dollar amount that the bigger items commanded. It looked to me (in the audience) that more people were both participating and getting stuff than last year. Heck, I pooled my meager pool of Reaper Bucks with some other con goers and went home with several fist-fulls of extra bones for my trouble. It helps to have a fun and lively auctioneer too. Adrift
I need to find myself a keeper/chaperon/voice of reason and restraint for next year. Oh and a passport This is certainly true WHEN you let yourself wander around the Boneyard. I mean, I have 2 vampire boxes on hand and I was STILL wandering the Boneyard looking for metal minis that just HAD to make their way into my collection. WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?????????
buglips*the*goblin
Chronic, incurable figmentia. On the plus side, we've got some pretty awesome group therapy on this site. The first step is admitting you don't have a problem, because you only have twenty. Come to that, it's less therapy and more enabling. But let's call it therapy anyways.
Adrift
It's funny you mention enabling. There was a guy next to me wandering the Boneyard and the conversation went like this, Me: "Ugh, I have all these Bones minis and tons of minis at home, why am I looking through these?" Him: "Don't ask me, I'm an enabler." A couple minutes pass. Me: "Do I really need another elf?" Him: "Yes." Me: "And this cultist, I'm not sure about him." Him: "You need him." ...this went on for a while, but I felt better about all my acquisitions...strange.
