So my Wednesday night pathfinder group has a father daughter combo and recently the daughter who was playing our inquistior tank stopped showing up and that left my mage tanking (granted he's got 25 ac, one hands a bastard sword and casts with the other and is medium armor)

so I talked to my friend who was running the game and pitched the idea of a cleric tank and frankly he loved it (this adventure path is very undead heavy)

and I decided on a variant tifling (+2con +2wis prehensile tail, spelllike ability pyromancy and dr2/coldiron) cleric with healing/fire domains.

so this is my First pathfinder cleric and Holy crap the healing domain 0.o at lev 6 all cure spells are empowered so +50% to your total healing per spell, the fire domain is fun, granted power is throwing firebolts for something like 1d8+half casterlevel max 5 and access to things like produce flame fireballl.... a cleric throwing fireballs... yea i'm ok with that.

With the Main idea being a Tank I originally went with the idea of full plate and a tower shield but as I was getting the character on paper It just didn't work so well, that -2 to attack rolls Hurts, going to talk to the gm about house rulling this with maybe a feet or something.

 

So onto the part you guys are going to be interested in.

 

the obligatory tilfling in fullplate: Vaeloth, Hellborn Paladin, I ended up grabbing a warhammer on the character but ehh small detail, I almost always use swords so I figured I would be different.
so his shield is going to come off, and the tower shield will be attached to his arm, without opening the packages and playing with them I'm suspecting the only way to do is to have the shield attached lengthwise on his arm which isn't idea but.

As you can see from this shot the shield is going to need a lot of trimming before I will be able to mount it on the miniature.

 

 

 

Now for the fun part, my mage killed and cast animate dead on an advanced troll and created an advanced bloody troll skeleton, think the red skeletons from castlevainia they put themselfs back together after a bit.

While reaper does have a Undead troll I really didn't care for it, I planning on doing a purple base coat and then light coat of green to give it a rather nasty look, I will have to fiddle with a bit i'm sure.

 

 

While I'm at it I'm considering Repainting my tengu.

so the highlights on the red are almost nonexsistant I might need to step them up a bit more, orange is a base coat.

 

 

I was playing around with the skin, I started with a base coat of rosy skin, highlighted with tanned skin then went over it with tanned skin with a touch of the same blood red I used on the armor so he's got just a hit of red in his skin which is what I was looking for.

 

So I cheated and used a micron pen for the eye on this guy and well, fairly painless.

 

 

and this fraking thing... I spent about 2 hours cutting and filing the interior of the tower shield down, the shield that comes with the mini well.... I cut the top and bottom off so I would have a flush surface to attach the tower shield to. and now that i'm looking at it I think I'm going to have to pin this thing.

more basecoating.

 

 

the purple highlights are not showing up on the black, I'm going to have to step them up a bit, and it seems I dulled the red down two much and I'm having to go back in with the base coat beh...

 

bit of an afterthought, I liked the horns straight black at first but im second guessing myself on that now.

 

drilled out the arm, sadly my wire was Wayyyyyy to big.

 

 

I had to build up a pretty big area to get a flat surface to attach the remains of the shield to the new one.

then there's the troll, it was a bit of a feat to get him stable after I applied the glue, the top kept falling off.

 

the major issue I see is this "mini" is so top heavy that it won't standup on it's own...

A base green coat and two layers of green highlight and a earth wash on the shaded areas, Over all I'm fairly happy with this look for a undead troll.

I like the way this is coming along. I'm amazed (and maybe I shouldn't be) at how many of the hobbyists on this site are also actually RP gamers. Maybe it's because Reaper figs are aimed at this market, as opposed to their own tabletop games. At any rate, it makes me all happy inside to see so many people finding new and creative uses for these great minis.

I think there's definitely something to that, especially since Reaper has the officially licensed minis for one of the bigger pen and paper RPG systems (Pathfinder, by Paizo). I know Paizo's support of Reaper is what drew myself and several of my friends to the Reaper Kickstarter, which drew us into the mini painting hobby.

 

I'd wager it's also, in part, why you'll see a lot more of a focus on doing great tabletop minis here, as opposed to the display oriented minis that a lot of the other communities tend to focus on.

thanks it was painful to paint and mostly error untill I found something that worked, thin base coat of red and then panicked when I didn't like the look and started throwing yellows and some white and before long I had a thing going. Oh and I don't mind making a fool of my self.... that helps a LOT

I have to agree 100% I saw a pazio blog about the kickstarter "back in the day" and I have been throwing money at reaper ever since.

So I'm sitting at work pondering the troll, the upper layer of paint is a combination of the remnants of the dark green base coat, some reaper pine green added in and then finally some citadel warpstone glow.
btw I highlight by starting with the base coat then added the highlights to that and keep stepping up the brightness as i go, it takes More steps but I find I get smoother highlights this way.

 

which imo is much brighter irl, but I'm considering doing some highlighting with this instead of using the current layer plus white

White doesn't go in the mix for highlighting everything so using paler greens is good. If you used RMS Olive Green to highlight from the Pine Green you can add a hint of RMS Linen White to make the final bright highlights.

Good eye I actually went olive to pine to warpstone, Im pondering doing a glaze of warpstone with a little pine green added in, but your right about the not using the white.

I like the modification of the shield, very cool. And intended or not o like the effect you got with your attempt at freehand on it.

the "cape" has it's oiled leather base coat as have the leather bracers, added some touchups and shade washes. Will add some pictures tomorrow if I get a chance.
