It's only clean because I am setting it up. Wait and see what it looks like when I start using it more. It already has a stack of boxes, etc. dumped on it.

No comments about the Reaper blister back display at the top? ::(:

I was too busy looking at the stuff below it and trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my set up.

It's pretty cool but I need a closeup :)

I'll be adding more pics on the WIP soon. Had to work most of the last weekend and fit in Iron Man 3 at the IMAX.

So I should be able to get back to it this week/weekend.

If you like I can do an annotated version of that photo later today.

Per request here's the first installment of my annotated pictures starting with Thrym's Work Bench:

post-7739-0-74655600-1368071564_thumb.png

Going counter-clockwise around the photo:

  • Reaper Blister Card Backs - I thought they'd be a nice decorative point.
  • Wooden Train - Unpainted ... [link]
  • Wood Filler ... [link] ... I use it to fill wood bases and other wood crafts
  • Brushes - Unopened ... I pick up a variety from various craft stores as I catch sets on stoopid cheap sales.
  • 6-inch Ruler
  • Green Stuff ... I picked up this one at a LGS that was unfortunately going out of business. Not a huge discount on it but I doubted they'd still be open the next time I got down there.
  • Xacto Blade Set ... variety pack of blades
  • DuraBoard Pegboard ... [link]
  • Green Stuff Tube ... Kneadite's tube that I got for my birthday ... [link] ... the cup holder is a dollar store pick up.
  • Tape, Cleaner and Screwdriver ... just being a pain ... pretty sure you can all figure those out.
  • Two Empty Filing Cabinets ... The bench sits atop two old, two-drawer filing cabinets. This is a common method for our office to add new work stations. Not especially ergonomic but then again, I won't be typing at it.
  • Ink ... there should be three old Citadel Inks if I remember correctly
  • Badger Airbrush Paints ... I have an actual airbrush beginner's kit ... hook it to an air source and go. I totally suck at it at the moment.
  • Brush Cleaner ... a generic brand solvent I believe for enamels.
  • Superglue ... I like Loctite but I have some specialty glues about. At the NYS Fair I got some glue from the product building or as they call it ... the Center of Progress Building. $30 ... glue (glued metal to glass ... permanently), I broke the sample he gave me on the pavement at home. Then chipped the glass off the piece of metal and it still wouldn't come unglued, a kicker bottle, and a filler that bonded with the glue to fill exactly where you filled it.
  • Plastic Battlemechs ... these were part of a larger set of metal figures that were sold to me on eBay. They make good practice dummies for paint schemes.
  • Expandable Three-Tiered Shelf ... got this one at Big Lots. ... [link] ... Eventually it will prolly house the NEXT TO BE PAINTED figures as well as some test dummies. You can expand or close this to fit a drawer or cupboard.
  • Tape Measure and Jack Knife ... came in handy with the cork.
  • Remnant Counter Top ... a brilliant idea of my boss. His best friend owns a local lumber yard ... not a Lowes or HD, good ol'fashioned family-owned lumber yard ... and they have left overs from stuff they sell and install. $8 for that 5 foot piece. Insta-Desk.
  • Frog Mug ... Father's Day Gift circa early 2000s.
  • Pens, Pencils and Markers ... okay, nothing spectacular about the pens or markers, but who on this forum remembers the old pencil dispensers at your school? These are NFL and MLB pencils that we could get and collect. Teachers loved them. I looked for them when my kids got to the middle school where I had them ... alas they are no more.
  • Brush Holder ... this is the quick assemble brush holder ... [link] ... it's nice because it's light and portable.
  • Candle Holder ... I bought that wooden circle as a diorama base ... soon.
  • Wire Baskets ... I've mentioned these when I got my birthday presents ... [link] ... there are three sizes.
  • Toothpick Holder ... 2-pack at a dollar store ... the holders work nice.
  • 35mm Film Canisters ... I worked at a paper once long ago ... Photographers had tons of these and managed to get a whole bunch ... great for storing paint mixes or washes.
  • Palettes ... $1 at Walmart ... prolly 30 in various locations about the house. LOL ... [link] ... I keep a bunch handy for when company paints as well.
  • Evergreen Scale Plastic Model Sheet - Brick and Square Tile ... [link]
  • Lion Oil Pastels and Charcoal ... old set, got it in high school ... [link]
  • Thumb Tacks ... pretty straight forward
  • Map ... this is a map of Markshire ... [close up] ... my campaign world centered around the country, Markshire, in its struggles against the Lord of Winter, Thrym and his frost giant children as well as many other adventures. [NWN Forums]
  • Cork Panels ... I got these a long time ago as recompense for my bedroom being the only one we NEVER remodeled. So I got something to cover the walls with. Never used them until this application ... [link] ... now I can buy more and continue them across the wall. LOL

More sections to come. Feel free to point out and request close ups of stuff. Links are to the actual product or similar items for better review.

My office desk is a giant piece of wood sitting on top of two two drawer filing cabinets- taken straight from my dad's office when I cleaned out their house in '11, so I really like your desk. I tend to use my laptop, in my lap, more than my desktop so I rarely type at it, though when I am actually typing something on my typewriter I have it on that desk, it's not horribly ergonomic, but then, I didn't learn to type ergonomically so it doesn't really bother me.

It's looking good so far. Looking forward to watching the progress as it continues.

Those are two tie display trays.

Also added more pegs and rearranged the lighting. I was tired of hitting the bulb with my head and didn't want the light behind me.

Wow, you've got more up on your peg boards than I've managed in most of a year in my garage (which had 4 or 5 large pegboards already up when we moved...).

Man, now I want to get my stuff organized. Of course "now" is while sitting at my desk at work...

but your clutter is coming along. Still seems to organized for me. Try adding some random Christmas decorations, maybe a power drill, oh and a piece of stove pipe. (Yes, these may all be items on or next to my desks at home at the moment.)

The Christmas Decoration is the glass Spider-man hanging from the rafter at the top. There are two more ornaments just off camera on my computer work table.

The power drill is just to the right, off camera as well. The bits and the quick connect chuck are on the bench. A cordless nailer was on the top just 2 minutes before I took the picture.

And while I don't have any stove pipe ... some left over copper pipe from the baseboard boiler is sitting on the floor to the bottom right.

A quick run down of what's new on the pegboards:

post-7739-0-55562600-1368168307_thumb.jpg

Left board (L2R - T2B):

  1. Pencil Holder ... it had holes ... brain made the connection to screw the cup into the board. Voila. Pegboard putty holder.
  2. P65 - Young Swamp Dragon (discontinued)
  3. Pegs got moved about
  4. Medium Basket ... (not shown) finally made room and added it on the bottom left
  5. Pliers Holders ... set of 5 [link]
  6. Screwdriver holder ... (not shown) setup the long Philips head screwdriver with a clip in bottom right

Right board:

  1. Friendly Plastic Pellets ... larger bag [link]
  2. The case my cellphone case came in ... I am considering using it for an open palette or something similar
  3. Two Magnetic Strip sections ... I have several files and X-acto tools so I decided to fashion a magnetic strip section for easy placement on the wall. Piece of wood (1in x 3in x 1/8in) with a magnetic strip across the top. I added a second row to get a firmer grasp of the tools.
  4. The loop pegs ... with my universal part holder [link] and the Troll from Talisman [link]
  5. In the large basket ... an X-acto knife set [link]

That's what's new on the pegboard.

A swing arm magnifier light [link]

I got a brush washer and holder [link]

My Ott portable swivel lamp with magnifier pull out [link]

Here's a close up of the magnetic strip holders:
