Harpy figures!

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow members. I need some information. I want to expand my harpy collection. A while back I saw a photo of (6) harpy miniatures...(4) were in flight poses with spread wings & (2) were ground based. The bodies were beautiful nude female form with the legs & feet becoming talons. Who makes/made these miniature & are they still available? I know it wasn't Reaper or Ral Partha (I have those in my collection already). Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

Hmm. Not sure which models you're speaking of, but I recently got the Avatars of War "Harpies of Apocalypse" set. Five harpies, all in flight. Lovely female bodies, terrifying heads and talons. I'm scraping a bunch of the excess "OMG Chaos!!1!" gobbeldygook off their wings (chains and dangling skulls), but otherwise I really like the models.

I'd need more to go off than just that, sorry.

I pride myself in being 'the monster man' when it comes to mini finding, but unfortunately 'pretty harpies' is just too broad to give me a good head start. :L

That really sounds like the Warlord, Reven faction harpies, But I suppose you have those?

Here is a picture of these AoW harpies:

http://www.beastsofwar.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Harpies-of-Apocalypse.jpg ... I guess they have been released? They seem to be the armless variant.

@Catdancer: what Basilisk said.

The picture you saw: Were the minis a) painted b) primed white c) bare metal? Did they have feathery buzzard wings or leathery bat-like wings? Any other details? How were they based? Was it a black background, white-fade-to-blue background? Were they four limbed or six limbed harpies? Sculptors and artists seem to differ as to number of limbs.

Any additional details you could remember would help.

BTW: These: http://www.miniature-giant.com/Images-Reaper-Miniatures/6183.jpg ... are the Warlord harpies.

***Moderator: by all means zap the inline images if they are problematic [?]

Matakishi has a blog entry from 2011 where he painted up some GameZone Harpies: http://www.matakishi.com/agonheroicroleplay.htm

The EE produces [produced? I don't know if they are still current issue] some Harpies for their Dark Elf Army. This link goes to a picture of six: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v145/Lexandro/Dark%20Elves/harpiesTOP1.jpg ... and the ratio of airborne to groundpounders is close to what you remember.

Hi Basilisk! Thanks for your reply. Since you are good at finding miniatures...can you tell me were I could find (what company in the USA) the following miniatures that I am seeking. I tend to do my business with only domestic firms!

(2). EXCALIBUR MINIATURES (Woman with whip # 6151)...

(3). BRONZE AGE MINIATURES (Evil wizard/alter/female victim # 28EO-2)

You could always try and email those companies and see if they have any distributor state side, they might be willing to help you that way.

Presenting Amiri, she's an Iconic Barbarian from Reapers Pathfinder line.

Had this one a little while, but all the fiddly bits kept putting me off (and I normally like fiddly minis), she turned out to be super fun to paint though.

As always any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

So this is my take at painting Na'Kaat
My firend uses this mini as a pc in our dnd campaign. The axe that comes with the mini felt too small to her so I swapped it with the two handed axe from 03197: Thelgar Halfblood, Half Orc Barbarian.

All in all this was one was nice to paint and is really nice to look at after  Hope you like it too!

So the ex is going to be joining a new campaign, and she asked me to paint her figure, the Stonehaven female gnome rogue....

Still just starting, but need to motivate myself, as well as keeping track of colors....
      Scalera is Reaper Linen White
      Pupil Warcolours Green 3
      Skin SC 75 Arabic shade...

Check back as more gets done!

This in The Girl from Bombshell Miniatures and was one of my entries in the Painter's category at ReaperCon. I started painting her a couple of years ago, mainly to test the peachy color of the cloth. I decided to quickly finish her for ReaperCon as I wanted to have a Bombshell entry. She was not the figure chosen for judging in the main contest but she did receive a silver medal (dog tag) in Bombshell's manufacturer awards.
