What do you regret?

Recommended Posts

I regret missing the actual Kickstarter, as I didn't hear about it until after it was done (though I was fortunate enough to get in on Reaper's awesome post-KS deal). Even though I missed the KS party, I can absolutely say that the excitement and enthusiasm carried over and renewed my interest in the hobby! ::D:

Exactly, during the KS and After were slightly different deals, so there's a bit of regret.

I'm still super psyched and the KS pulled me into the hobby after being out of it for a number of years. Both in plopping down money for the KS and then more bones models in the meantime and L2PKs and other goodies as well.

Very excited and this is a very exciting time.

Potatoes, Potatoes. You can say it was a special deep discount during the KS, but that's not the wording Reaper themselves used, so that's more personal opinion than anything. They specifically said 20% more, not that it was 20% less during the 30 day's of official KS.

That's a reasonable way of looking at it, just not the way I was thinking of it, I guess.

I'm not trying to bash them as I am very happy with the opportunity I did get, but it's a bit much to suggest that the few people who found out about the kickstarter after the initial 30 days during the paypal post KS period were going to cause Reaper to lose significant money. ...

So I find it a little "eh" that you may be suggesting that somehow because I didn't know about the KS right away, pledging literally *days* after it ended and *months* before my (or early pledgers) money was spent and the machinery was ordered or the castings were finalized, that I was somehow taking advantage of the company or somehow was a much bigger risk to them than those who hopped on early? That their pledge increase after the KS ended is somehow more safe than mine, despite my money being just as real.

At no point did I say you were taking advantage of Reaper or creating any kind of risk to them, and I certainly did not mean to imply it. Nor did I mean to suggest any moral judgement on you or your timing. I am sorry that I came across that way; it's a failure of tone and writing on my part.

Like I said, I'm happy with what I got, but do feel regretful (thread topic) about the way things shook out post-KS. Sorry if I come off as defensive, but I do feel you attacked my legitimate comment right off the bat in your response and were a bit dismissive in the way you tried to educate me on the matter. I apologize if that wasn't your intention, but I'm not sure how else to read your comment.

I apologize. I have an unfortunate habit of going off into lecture mode when trying to explain things and I can sound high-handed if I'm not careful.

I didn't mean to belittle your regrets, and I'm sorry. I can understand how you might feel a pang that you missed the perfect window of opportunity for this Kickstarter, even if you came close and are overall happy with it.

Before Reaper's KS (as far as I know), Paypal after the fact wasn't an option.

KS was designed to give a relatively short window to raise funds. It's not a pre-sale or advertising campaign. To be able to get anything after the KS (and before released to normal retail channels), one had to get in on the KS in the timeframe.

Thanks to Reaper (again, as far as I know), other KS'ers are offering the paypal option after the fact. Could Reaper have offered you the deal at the same price and still made a profit? Yes, but that is not how KS is supposed to work. I'm glad you are happy with what you got; I understand you wish you could have more. Such is life, alas.

I do not know of any KS that allowed people to pledge after the fact, but CMON had a pledge manager thazt allowed people to increase their pledge for Zombicide about 3.5 months earlier.

I think Reaper put the prices up because they mentioned making it available after the kickstarter and people complained. Yes, that's right people moaned that other people would be getting the same deal that that wouldn't be fair to people who pledged during the kickstarter.

In fact I remember people complaining on these forums that pledge manager was still open and people were able to sign up after the fact.

I don't regret anything, although I did get 1 x Vampire, 2 x Figure Case and 1 of every other option besides the paint sets.

The closest I've come to regret is getting Cthulhu and big K and N as I'm not sure I'll ever paint them due to their size. Still, I can easily just sell them for more than I paid if I choose to do so. So that's no big deal.

The paints I can always pick up at a later point if I need to without being locked into a dozen specific colours. Sure, the price won't be as good, but I'm fine with that.

Olaf, I will happily pay double what you paid for them if you want to give them up. :-)

From what I've seen on Kickstarter, backers generally don't like it if people that didn't back the Kickstarter get the same deal as them. They really don't like it when people not in the Kickstarter get the product before them (Zombicide being on sale at GenCon before all international backers had been sent their copies, Zompocalypse being available in retail stores in Australia well over a month before backers received their copy).

Both those complaints I feel are fair enough.

Yeah, I don't forsee it being hard to sell them. I've already had someone ask about Cthulhu when I mentioned I wasn't totally sold on the sculpt.

I'm keeping them for now. I imagine if I do change my mind I'll sell them to someone locally to avoid shipping costs, or at least within Australia (to minimise shipping costs).

Knowing how much of a pack rat I am though I'll probably keep them, telling myself I'll paint them 'one day'! :)

They are certainly impressive enough to use with just a quick wash to bring out the detail if you are looking at them for some kind of rpg or game use.

Otherwise... heck they just look awesome :O

I regret what my wife is going to do to me when all this stuff arrives in our home, which is already too small for our family....and the stuff from the other 20 some odd kickstarters I've done over the last 12 months....

This goes beyond time on the couch....

Yup, I'm a dead man.

Oh, and I regret not getting any figure cases...
