Watchman
Greetings; This is my first attempt at painting such a large size (scale & quantity) of anything. I was use to painting 1/285th Micro Armor and 15mm Napoleonics, I am working on a Battalion size unit. Phase 1 (priming) , done. Phase 2 (base coat, done). Phase 3 (first part of camo pattern), nearing completion. I was experimenting with "inks" and decided to complete the camouflage pattern, which is a modification of the Army Woodland Pattern. Inking next, then the finish details: cockpit, warheads, bare metal parts, etc. The canopies, if I can duplicate it, will simulate Gold impregnated glass (reddish tint) to represent EMP resistance. Lastly will be the Fighting Piranha decals for the finishing touch. I will post more photos, with my mediocre camera as I go. As you may notice in the first two photos, the ISC snuck in for a plug for Star Fleet Battles. Anything look familiar, 0700, in the above photo?

Sergeant_Crunch
You may want to make your patches of color a little larger. It's the difference between this: And this: If you haven't seen it already, you may want to check this article out. Plenty of examples on my blog as well
Watchman
The big patches are yet to come with the other two colors. I am actually doing it backwards. The small colors should be last, being placed at the junctures of the other colors, so in essence I am forced to place the big colors around the small. I just have to get back into the knack of it, I have not done a camo pattern in 20 years.
Girot
I'm going to attempt to use my [email protected] n00b airbrush and some texture templates to do the camo on one of my factions. I'd prefer to paint everything in my collection to match but I need at least two factions so I can continue demos and such with my friends. Watchman
If you can find a copy of TB 43-0209 Color, Marking, and Camouflage Painting of Military Vehicles, Construction Equipment & Materials Handling Equipment, it has a great deal of pictures of the patterns. It also gives the colors used depending upon what type of terrain you are deployed to.

That's cool, a lot of folks ask about how to paint camo (having never done it before) around here, so I try to help.

I keep my CAV in Keter cases from Lowes. Armor in the top, CAV and TS A/C in the bottom. A case can hold 2 companies of combined arms. I can post a few pages from the manual, if I figure out how to post the pictures. NOW I remember. If anyone is interested I can scan in pages of whatever. Let me know. The thing I like about this forum is how helpful people are. Thanks to those that help me.
