You will note that there are some remnance of the first color I started with. This will be covered, for the most part with the one of the remaining colors. Where it it is not called for in the plans, I will just leave it and hope it will enhance the overall effect. The aircraft have a different pattern as well as the colors will also be slightly different.

A note here, I did not carry the camo pattern on to the fans as a rotating surface would stand out more with different colors on it.

I have been thinking I should expound upon the last statement. Those not having been in, or associated with, war may not understand the effectiveness of camouflage on an Aircraft since "it is moving anyway" thought may pop up. I will relate a story from a local civilian pilot in Colorado in the 1970s. The pilot was up a few thousand feet out for a cruise. There was a point in time when he looked down an noticed the ground moving. It was difficult to distinguish what it was other than it was big. He happened to be flying over an Air Force Low Level Bombing/Missile range with a mission in progress. Had he not looked down he would never had seen the B52. The effect was just enough to potentially hide the Aircraft and at least distort the view enough to make it hard to discern what was there.

The fourth color is now complete on all non-CAV. I am still relearning about doing this camo style. Always stop when tired, it is very easy to miss place colors when staring at these charts too long. A couple of the tanks have the same pattern, but the colors are swapped.

So here is the current status of the non-CAV part of the Verdant Camouflaged battalion. I have some tires to finish up and still trying to perfect the cockpits, slow going for sure trying to get the effect I want. If it does not work out then I will try to obtain an effect Spaztica has on another unit I have him working on, which will show up in "Another CAV commission job.

Those look great though I do have one nitpick. The American flag on the side of vehicles should be shown so that the field is forward to give the impression that the unit is advancing, not "maneuvering to the rear." You'd either need a reverse image decal or put the flag on the other side of the vehicle.

I like to stay with the National flag verses the Executive flag. Also the National flag is never to be placed on the left hand (inferior) position, according to P.L. 94-344. I would think the Executive flag would be included but I am not so sure seeing the Air Force and NASA wearing the flag on the wrong shoulder.

I normally use an airbrush freehand or with blutack or paper masks for camo finishes on my scale models. However for CAV or Battletech builds, I find that it is fairly easy to achieve a good result with dry-brushing the lighter colour over the darker.

I now use Testors Dull Cote for all my miniatures sprayed over a clear gloss so I can respray the dull coat if the mini gets "shiny". I find with one coat of gloss and two coats of dull cote and the mini is almost damage proof paint wise.

Nice effect, I have yet to try dry brushing. I am going to give Krylon Matte Finish a try. I want to try Testor's also and see if there is any difference. I also want to see what effect they have on the decals.

Air Force typically doesn't wear the flag on their uniform. The Army however does, both full color and subdued IR reflective, on the left shoulder most likely as an exception to public law. Of course the reason we got was, "Cuz the reg says so."

Well, I have gone as far as I feel I should with the non-CAV elements. I have coated them with Krylon Matte finish.

Not display grade, but okay for battle. As for the CAV, I have taken the layouts for the APC and tank, scanned them in and printed out sheets to cut up and tape together all the separate sections. This gave me one big continuous pattern that I will use on the CAVs.
