I'm pretty impressed at how many people are dropping $375 for the gold plated edition. I treasure my game books and all, but that's just... wow.

Yeeeeah. To be honest, I owned the deluxe edition of the Vampire 20th anniversary edition and sold it. The cover was flaking apart, the binding was coming undone, and the edges of the pages were warping and denting. I cannot recommend dropping the amount of money they're asking for any of their books, unless you plan on putting it away and never using it. They are just too delicate.

 

On the other hand, I sold my flaking copy of the v20 anniversary edition for $300, so it's not like they don't have value

I have a friend who has written a significant amount of Exalted material.

 

I wonder if the writers and artists who created these books will get a cut of this. My gut feeling is no.

A bunch of old Ral Parthas. They did a bunch of minis for White Wolf way back when. Werewolf: The Apocalypse also had a line, as well as Vampire: The Masquerade and Mage: The Ascension

There are some on eBay now. I myself have acquired some as a part of a lot here and there.

Ouch, that is not good to hear. Still, I've been waiting for this and I dropped $130 on it within the first hour without hesitation (like many others obviously, damn what a strong start!). It's pretty insane for a single book actually, but I just love Exalted sooo very much, but am not happy with the 1st or 2nd edition rules. Holding my thumbs for this one.

 

But the gold plated edition? That is beyond insane if you ask me.

There is every chance the kinks were ironed out and they've improved the process or gotten stronger materials, since the book was the first deluxe they did.

 

I'm actually going to take a risk and go for this one as well, since I'm way too interested in this game. Worst case scenario? Ebay fodder for a nice sum

Haven't even looked at what's being offered. Just starred it for later consideration. I love Exalted. But from what people were saying on Reddit, the pledge levels are probably not going to interest me. (Or they'll interest me, but be out of sensible budget range. And I'm not talking about the gold-plated book level. Srsly?)

The pledge levels do seem high. I've revised mine after realizing I already have the classic pdfs that they're offering. So, at this point, I'm down to the book with pdf along adding on the map and the screen. The people with the gold plated order, well, I aspire one day to have that kind of disposable income.
