I'm not familiar with Exalted so it holds no nostalgia for me... but am I reading right that at $60 you get a pdf book, not a 'real' book? That's where I quit scrolling on the page.

Correct. You need to get to $110 before you get a dead tree copy of the book.

I've not seen any of the new stuff from Onyx Path for Vampire/Werewolf/Mage on Drive Thru RPG yet. Scion you can get a POD hardcover for $35 though. I'd imagine the color price point would be $60 for mass market hardcover (completely unofficial, uninformed and making a guess based on what a big color hardcover rpg book from other publishers goes for). If I were more comfortable believing it'll get to retail, I'd be tempted to skip the KS and wait.

Exalted is a game that I enjoyed reading, as the setting was interesting, but pretty much despised every aspect of the rules (don't care for the Storyteller system). I just don't think GMing (or even playing) a whole party of Goku's is fun as by the nature of the game you're supposed to be the most powerful things alive. I won't even get into how overly complicated keeping track of all the different powers and ability are since every freaking skill has like 10 that basically change how the rules work.

I had told my players if they ever wanted to play the setting they'd have to be Dragon type as those were somewhat reigned in power wise.

I agree. I think dragon-blooded were the most interesting as they were the grunts of the eternal wars.

I knew a guy who was absolutely obsessed with being a lunar, though. Those things were unstoppably powerful, physically, and could kill almost anything else with 1 good hit. Of course, the solars had the potential to unmake creation, so there's that

Personally, give me a good game of Hunter: the Reckoning or Vampire: the Masquerade and I'm happy.

I haven't really looked too deeply into anything beyond Sidereals (my Exalted character is one) and Dragon-blooded (he took on the guise of one). One of the many reasons our Exalted game folded was because one of the players had played Exalted before and she maneuvered things so that the Solars would all get super-powerful, super-quick. The GM lost interest (as is typical for him when he GMs anyway).

But I still feel like with the right mindset, even as over-powered as it is, Exalted can be a great game. Then again, Exalted is a very visual game with a lot of the costume-y and setting stuff I find fun to draw/imagine. Nothing has to be practical or realistic and you have full-reign to come up with the most outlandish character, ever, which would get sneers in just about any other game and still not fall into the "Mary Sue/Gary Stu" territory because, by gum, the game's iconic characters can do that just fine on their own. So I guess it's appealing to me for its very, "Get that urge out of your system." freedom.

So, at this point, I'm down to the book with pdf along adding on the map and the screen.

I was going to go and add to my pledge for the big map as it sounded like something I wanted. But $55? That's a lot of cash for a map, even though I'm sure it will look fantastic. I'll have to think about this one.

This is entirely a fan-project. These books will only be produced for the Kickstarter backers and are intended to be beloved collectibles for people who wants something unique and beautiful for a game they adore.

I backed the Hunters Hunted 2 book from them, recently, so I'm hoping it arrives before this closes. If the quality/durability has increased since the first book I got, I'll probably back it for the sake of nostalgia. If not, I might anyway, if only to sell on ebay.

Some games target players, some games target GMs. Plenty of games have many people who want to play, but few who want to run.

I'm actually curious about the new versions combat resolution system. Buy in is too high though.
