scythewing
Hello I was wondering if anyone out there was in my neck of the woods and doing demos for the game. I live in Cleveland Ohio and love the idea of the game and the amount of factions. I've played a lot of other style army and skirmish games in the past but this one has had my interest since I was at gencon a few years ago. Just not sure how building processes works. That's why I'd live to get a demo in to really try it out.
Warwick
Alas, I am in Oklahoma. I say "alas" because, well, Oklahoma. Just kidding, it's fine. Sort of. I learned the game by playing it alone a few times. It's really intuitive. Any hard parts you can pop back here and get some advice on. Slap two 500 point lists together and start a war. Good times, sir.
wildbill
500 points. Weenie. I learned on 1,000 points! 1,000! Be a man! I would also recommend you spend some quality time reading through the numerous posts in the Warlord forums after you have read through the rulebook. Chances are extremely high your question will have already been answered at least once somewhere in here. Not that I don't mind answering questions, but if it isn't dwarf related, then it just isn't worth asking.
Castlebuilder
I live in Ashland, 60-90 minutes south, depending what part of Cleveland you are in. The game store where I play Warlord at is in Mansfield. We would be happy to teach you how to play Warlord.
scythewing
Mansfield what's the store called? As far as troop composition I know warlords and captains give benefits to the troops so do ypu want to load up on troops in their section or try a balancing act across the board? Warwick
Since I am a general of small brain, I ignore benefits from Warlords and Captains. Most of the time I forget my own faction ability! I would learn to play without trying to figure out all the synergy from various leaders and followers. Plenty of great leaders without any synergy at all. Trust me, I can still mop the floor with an opponent if I forget to roll a few "Instant Zombie" checks. Drop some minis on the table and get to smashing.
Castlebuilder
It's the Heroes Haven https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Heroes-Haven-Games-Collectibles/264820141624?fref=ts As for army builds, most lists will allow you plenty of options to create something that fits your play style. The best part is that anything can work. My typical style for a 1000 pt army is to have the Warlord's troop heavy with elites and a good number of grunts. Then I build the other troops to support that block. Now Bob, on the other hand, is always coming up with wild combinations that push every limit possible, and typically stomp all over my army! scythewing
Wow hero's haven haven't been in there for years. The trip is about an hour and a half for me. Is there any particular day you guys play up there? Thanks for info about the troop squads. The game seems very open and gives you a freedom I'm not all that used to. Kind of on the fence on who to learn with. I'm a big undead fan and I got a bunch of Necropolis stuff. But I also am liking the the frost giants too.
