MiniCannuck
Now that event registration for GenCon has started, I figure a call out to who is going would be good. I will be there Wed to Mon. My group is driving and we are going to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on the way down. My friend is a huge Rush fan and they were inducted last year.
Inarah
We'll be there, but I haven't even had a chance to look at the events list yet.
Kultus
I'm trying to come up with the money to do so. Provided I'm able to do this, I am planning on doing at least one Speed Painting and one of the Warlord games.
MiniCannuck
The warlord games are great. Dragons night out was my first experience with Reaper.
Thes Hunter
I just got my schedule for the 'year' (my years begin on July 1st) and I got the vacation block I wanted! I'll be going to Gen Con! I didn't grab any of the painting or sculpting sessions yesterday because I've been so busy with graduation that I haven't had time to breath let alone sit down and search for events. Though I will make the speed paints this year like I do every year and enjoy them very much. I have a plan now to document all my successes and failures. Since usually I haven't been putting up any photos of my speed paints ever.

If we want to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I think it will be on the way home. On the way there we'll pass through Cleveland at around 3:30am. klarg1
I will be at GenCon again this year. I even managed to get most of the events I wanted when they went live. My friends and I will be arriving before the con starts, and leaving Sunday evening. I'll be taking a couple of classes Friday morning, and playing a mix of several different games the rest of the time.
sethohman
Depends on furlough / sequester. If I am working normal, I will buy a last minute ticket and just suck it up to pay full price. If I am still forced to take 1 day a week off without pay, no GenCon or Origins for me.
MonkeySloth
Not going to make it this year, hoping for next year though.

Citrine
We are going this year. I have tickets to 3 minipaint events Saturday, including a Darksword speed paint event. The Reaper speedpaints filled up at super speed... Saturday evening my brain will be full
paintminion
A reminder to all of you going to Gen Con that there is usually room for people with generic tickets in many classes and certainly for Speed Paints! So if you didn;t get what you wanted, purchase the generic tickets and show up. I know Rhonda and i both are using Dark Sword Miniatures and Reaper Paints for our classes, and we both left room for an extra or two. Don't forget to enter the Gen Con Painting Competition - tons of good prizes this year for all, plus the random prizes. Good luck! I'll see you around Paint & Take and may jump into a few speed paints before Friday's (6:30 pm) Aces Charity Speed Paint - just for practice! Everyone is welcome to come heckle and cheer - watch the shenanigans as we take one hour to paint Hasslefree figures this year. Painters this year include Rhonda, me, Derek, Matt di Pietro, Marike, Jess Rich and more. Should be a fun time. :-) And also letting you guys know about my hubby's game - Barroom Brawl at the Crying King - a fun time if you guys like to mix it up and have fun in a different sort of minis game. Tell him Sue sent you. ;-) And don;t miss the Dark Sword booth if only to be able to stare closely at the minis and see how they use the techniques we're all teaching! It is sometimes easier to see minis there than the competition cabinets. And the food trucks, the beer garden, Dan the Bard, writing workshops, medieval food, some larping and anime...and I never have time for everything i want to do at Gen Con.
SaintRigger
I'll be at MHE again this year. I'm a *HUGE* Rush fan too. ;)Sue- is there a posting someplace for the GenCon painting contest? I'm going to go look right now for it - but if I get distracted by something shiny....
Artists Wren Posted May 21, 2013 Artists Share Posted May 21, 2013 I'll be there! (As Sue mentioned.) And I do plan for 2 more people per class than I put in as the max on the pre-reg tickets to try to accommodate people who don't make it through the pre-reg scrum. And hard as it may be to believe, even events that sell out super fast sometimes have no-shows. If there's something you're keen on and you haven't filled that time up with another activity, give it a shot with generics. For the speed paints, I think they sell 10 tickets but seat 14 people so that they have openings for people with generics, too. I think Debby even does a wait list sometimes. SaintRigger and others interested in the contest, there's some info here that has been recently updated - http://www.genconminipainting.com/mhe/
