Wow.

 

Did you ever post something, you think "Ehh, it's not quite mainstream, but maybe somebody might find it interesting," and it goes all 'splody?

 

I did these because I'm really not very good at the little glued diorama stuff, but I can paint anyhow. I had originally intended the grass to be under flocking, but I just liked the way it came out.

 

And I do keep wondering how figures with flock and foliage and glued on sand and rocks hold together during game play. I have visions of slowly disintegrating bases leaving grit and debris behind on the battlemats.

 

I think the little 3D terrain bases people make are awesome, but ... painting is what I do.

 

This is kind of a busy time of year for me (I started painting those minis some time last winter!) but I will see if I can put together a how-I-did-it if people would be helped by it.

The 'grass' on the hill used as a backdrop in these pictures is solid paint. No flocking was sacrificed in the making of this hill.

 

Never have I attempted the same thing as small as a figure base.

I imagine it will be a lot more helpful than trying to do NMM.
