malefactus
I've been looking through my photos of the Isles of Langerhans; the Goblin haunted Islets of the Great Fen (another name that needs revisiting). Most of them reach a level of ASTOUNDING MEDIOCRITY that even I wouldn't inflict on you. These aren't quite as bad as the others. While I'm doing some retakes & stuff, here is Crazy Mary's Cay, home of the (in)Famous Lust Potion No. 9: An Over Head Shot with The Piranha Club off to the left: Side View: Some Closeups: ] The Cherubs from Hell up in the tree are Four A Miniatures. Crazy Mary Herself is a Reaper Baba Yaga whose photos I'm tracking down. Some Pics of The Piranha Club & the Piranha Boys are forthcoming. In the interim your kind comments would be appreciated...kind of. Edited March 3, 2017 by malefactus missing photos
Carnacki the Ghost Finder
Thanks for showing us this wonderful work. There is a unique combination of drama, fantasy and humor here which I really appreciate. Do you have tutorials/WIP on how you built this landscape? I am terrible at searching for stuff like that and would love to learn more. Cheers.
malefactus
Thanks for the kind comments, Carnacki...glad you like the stuff! I have W.I.P. photos of just about everything I've made over the last few years. If you think it would be of interest to the Forum & yourself, I could start a thread in the W.I.P. section or added it here, whichever seems more appropriate. In the meantime, you could check out the Spooky Woods stuff here: http://s762.photobucket.com/user/DeafNala/library/40k/Forum%20Photos/Forum%20Photos/Spooky%20Woods?sort=3&page=1 I would be delighted to answer any how-to questions you might have.
Ludo
Well done! A tip on photographing, if you can't get your lights in the right place, a piece of cardboard painted white or wraped in tin foil (shiny side out) will reflect enough light to illuminate the shadows.
malefactus
Thanks, Ludo, both for the compliment &, even better, the photography tip. With moi its a battle against The Camera of Continual Contrariness...The Camera usually wins.
Ludo
I know the feeling. The reflector helps even out the light at least enough to trick the camera. (You'll still get the sense that things in shadow are, but they'll be more visible)
malefactus
Sorry for the long delay in posting updates. The Isles of Langerhans have been done for awhile & an adjoining Shanty Town Board is underway. Be that as it may, the time has come to inflict further Photos of Astounding Mediocrity upon you, my Fellow Forum Folk: An Overview: Loathsome George's Bridge connecting Oozy Suzy's Place with Crazy May's Cay (famed for her Lust Potion #9): The scaffolding/walkway connecting The Three Sisters & Frag's Sacred Rock Bar & Grill: And to the right we see... Further photos will follow when my PC is operating more up to speed. In the meantime your kind comments & critiques would be welcome...kind of. Jasper_the_2nd
Wow. I'd missed this up until now. Beautiful work. I love how cohesive your vision: wonderfully twisted and creepy yet beautiful. And all those little details. I'd love to see some WIPs, I especially love how you've done your trees, or treants, or whatever they are . They are awesomely creepy.
malefactus
Thanks for the kind comments, Jasper...that's my dose of motivation for the day! I'm delighted you like The Project. It's the details that make the Beasty interesting to make & view. If I've done my job correctly, there should be something new to see with each viewing. I have quite a few W.I.P. photos; perhaps I should open up a separate thread for them....what do you think?
redambrosia
This is fantastic! I don't know how I missed it before..... I love it! The grumpy little dwarves, the creepy faces, the weird mushrooms... it's so spiffy! It reminds me of some of the stuff I saw in Minature World during my honeymoon (miniature museum in Victoria, BC), only this is like, 10,000 times cooler!
