Diary of Heinz Planzenfresser, Botanist.

Day 12 - in the forest.

I've been wandering deeper into the woods and have already found several unknown species of plants.

Some are tiny and easily overlooked, some are brightly coloured and can't be missed.

But what fascinates me the most are the several types of fungi.

I have never before seen such diversity in one area, something in the soil provides the perfect conditions for the growth of fungi in this forest.

Such strange shapes and colours I've seen, some are mutations of known species, creating a sub species on their own, unique to this forest it seems.

Dr. Kaleboiler  will be envious of my findings I'm sure of it, can't wait to see his face when I show him the specimens I collected.

I've set up my tent and will go to sleep now.

Tomorrow I will investigate a cave I noticed further in the distance.

I'm anxious to see what grows in there, a cave is usually such a good spot to find fungi and mosses.

Day 13 - exploring the cave.

I've reached the cave and entered.

Good thing I brought some torches, I've seen some large bugs scurrying away before my feet.

Hope they'll keep their distance, I hate bugs!

Found a small underground stream, as I suspected a perfect spot for fungi.

I've found some common ones, nothing special yet.

There are some strange fish swimming in the stream, living underground has made them lose their eyes.

I wonder how they navigate.

The cave seems to be a large one, I will venture further down tomorrow.

Day 14 - New species

I had hoped to find more new species, and I wasn't disappointed, a little further down, the stream created a small underground lake.

There is  a small eco system  here, some ferns even and lots of fungi.

A botanist's dream!

Some strange shapes and colours, I can't test them to see if they're poisonous or edible but I will do that at home when I return with the specimens.

Being alone in a cave seems to play with my senses I could have sworn I heard something shuffling around.

Must be my imagination, for a moment I even believed one of the mushrooms suddenly was in a different spot than before.

Those strange shapes seen in the torchlight almost resemble a small face.

Hilarious of course.

Tomorrow I will harvest more specimens and then I will return to the University.

I hope I can sleep, I feel like something's watching me, all in my mind of course.

Wait! I did hear something now!

I will investigate..

Proclamation of the University of Botanism and Zoology.

It is with deep regret that we inform our professors and students of the disappearance of Dr. Heinz Planzenfresser.

He hasn't been seen since he went on an expedition to find new species of fungi which were his specialty.

It has been a year now and we have to assume something terrible has happened to our dear professor.

We hope he didn't suffer and we take solace in the fact that he has fallen while doing what he loved most.

Let this be a warning though.

Do take company when exploring, there are dangers out there.

Who knows what wild animals roam in the forests and there could be bandits out there!

Now let's take a moment of silence to remember our friend.

This will make a great base for any mini!

...no additional mini will be added, It is a Mushroom only base.

I am glad you like it. Thanks, Glitter.

I love them all!

Sometimes I wonder, in a forest we usually hear sounds like birds singing, wind rustling through the trees, little critters running through the vegetation, the occasional roar of a dinosaur..

But with all those shrooms? It must be a cacophony of laughter, talking and singing shrooms.

....that is how I imagine it. The Mushrooms do look sociable, chatty, & up for some merriment.

I had never thought of the sounds in the woods...probably has an occasional burp from someone who got a little too close...

...now have the Chipmunk song playing through my head.

While searching the floor under my worktable for some errant piece, I found a Mushroom that had gone missing. Here he is all base coated:
