smokingwreckage
The stuff you come up with is gorgeous. Really imaginative and immersive.
KruleBear
This is very cool. I love seeing the progression of imagination at work.
Dontfear
You say this is your last big project. What do you do with your others when you are done?
malefactus
Thanks for the kind comments, Guys! Your timing was perfect; i.e., I just finished painting & cutting up 66 wooden coffee stirrers for roof tiles. Somehow you made it seemed worthwhile...thanks, I needed that. malefactus
You say this is your last big project. What do you do with your others when you are done? I figure at 66 I'm running out of time; SO I'll work on this one for as long as I have left...it is a pretty extensive project. As far as past projects, aside from a small horde of Night Goblins, all the various armies, adventuring groups, ADD&D minis, terrain, et al have been sold, given away, or were done as commission work. Some of the "sold" pieces went to my friend Captain John; since we share a house, those are in the next room...about 1,000 minis.

malefactus
Getting an avatar is just one of those things at which I have been unsuccessful. Despite a few tries, I just can't get the accursed thing to work...probably another sign of imminent senility.
malefactus
As you may have guessed, I finished the last two shacks...actually it's the last six shacks, but who'e counting. I doing the photo thing in reverse; i.e., first I'll show you some closeups & later today or, more likely, early tomorrow I'll post some overviews. The End of Tenement Row: Spook's Place, featuring Robespierre & His Remarkable Rotating Mushroom by my friend, drakkol the Ubertalented: AND other points of interest around Spook's: SO until tomorrow, your comments will be most welcome...actually, they'll also be welcome after tomorrow. malefactus
I finally figured out, with the assistance of Neighbor Tom, the latest idiosyncrasy of The Camera of Continual Contrariness. The following long view photos are the result: With some flapping of wings & riding the thermals, the buzzard approaches The Shanty Town & The Isles: Circling the Town: The next batch of photos will show some of the details of The Shanty Town...possible with a proper name. In the interim your kind comments would be most welcome...for the most part. Edited March 3, 2017 by malefactus missing photos
smokingwreckage
I've said "that's amazing" so many times I'm starting to sound repetitive. But it is. Amazing, I mean. I love the blend of grotesquery and whimsy; hinting at the horrific but then making it harmless. Either it really speaks to me, or it's 4AM and I'm an insomniac slightly groggy on the pills that are meant to make me sleep but don't. Possibly both. malefactus
Thanks, smokingwreckage! I really am delighted that you are enjoying The Project & have taken the time to say so. As a Fellow Insomniac, I can identify with the slightly fuzzy, surrealistic view that sleeplessness causes..I used to have to inhale stuff to get to this state...natural is better. malefactus
After a bit of being distracted, I've started the final detailing of the Shanty Town. I'll take photos as I go to avoid the overwhelmed factor. SO here's where we stand as of now: A couple of shots of the Mid Way & High Street: The sign at The Hole In The Wall: The Under Way: AND some of the Residents by The Tree of Wohoo (the next board over will be a Graveyard & Goblin building materials cache): Today I hope to add some candles & maybe a few more Mushrooms; photos will be forthcoming. In the meanwhile your comments & critiques would be most welcome for motivation sake.
Dontfear
I love the purple and orange mushrooms those are particularly nice. you are so good at building a world, I am curious about your process. Do you think up a narrative and plan first or does it evolve as you go?
malefactus
Thanks for your kind reply, Dontfear, The Project is a combination of all the things I've come to love about Fantasy, Horror, & Steam Punk with a heavy dose of Jim Henson, Tim Burton, & Bugs Bunny thrown in for good measure...I don't take my creations or myself all that seriously. I tend to have a very basic idea of what I want to do & then let it go where it will as I build. I hope that isn't to vague an answer.
Dontfear
Makes total sense to me. Pretty similar to how I work, even if I do come up with a concrete plan before hand it still evolves as I go.
