ub3r_n3rd
That's a lot of hard work! Do you have a big space for all of your little world to be able to display it properly?
malefactus
With some rearranging of things, there is enough space. Funny thing is that after a fair number of years making similar projects, I've never wound up keeping anything...they just seem to find homes elsewhere. ub3r_n3rd
So you sell or give stuff away after you finish it so you can move onto new ideas and new worlds?
malefactus
Some things like the boards for Mordheim & War Machine were done on commission & others were made for a gaming club I belonged to a long time ago. Most things get given away as gifts. For moi, it's more a matter of making things than keeping them...I've never managed becoming a collector.
ub3r_n3rd
Still very cool, I understand the allure of creating stuff and seeing that finished project that you put so much time and effort into. Very satisfying.
malefactus
While I do draw a lot of enjoyment simply from the creating, I've developed a real liking for sending packages. Unfortunately the big things would never survive the less than tender mercies of the various postal systems.
ub3r_n3rd
So true, even with a single 28mm figure I always worry about it when sending it out to an exchange partner with how rough the postal/parcel services are with packages. Anyhow, great work my friend, can't wait to see more of this world unfold, it truly grabs the imagination.
KruleBear
Just caught up on several pages. Love the progress. I really like the purple candles you added all over.
malefactus
Thanks for the reply, KruleBear! The candles are one of the things that appear in all the boards...like the mushrooms & the faces, they tie the Beasty together. AND I have a fondness for candles...I'm glad you do too.
Darkmeer
Love the "personable Mushroom" under the Shabby Arms. The fact you sculpt them all makes this that much more cool. The naming conventions are fun, too: Yenta Snoop: Old Gossip, so a fortune teller? I'm hoping for a gypsy-looking goblin (a la Hunter of Notre Dame) that runs the place. Also, The Drop of the Pure Tavern immediately got me thinking of "The Rocky Road to Dublin." Now, off to bed with me for I have to get up in 5 hours to shovel snow. malefactus
Thanks, Darkmeer! I must admit that making the Mushrooms has become "my thing". I've given some away merely as an excuse to make more. I think the door knockers from Labyrinth & some of the pieces my friend, floedebolle, has made are a major influence/inspiration for my Fungal Fellows. I LOVE coming up with names. I used to keep a book of names that occured to me at odd times of the day...I'm crazy about alliteration also. At any rate, when I added the telescope to Yenta's place, the idea that it was the abode of the local gossip hit me followed closely by her name..."all seeing" has a slightly different meaning in her instance. "The Rocky Road to Dublin" is an old favorite. Any song with a "whack follary rah" is cool in my books. AND remember to lift with your legs & not your back...shovelling snow is a big enough pain as it is.
ub3r_n3rd
Totally agree, those mushrooms are awesome. You just fill the world with SO many tiny details that we have to look at your work a few times to see most (never all) of what you are able to do. Have you ever done a tutorial on how you create your mushrooms?
malefactus
Thanks again, ub3r_n3rd! I figure if I've done a terrain piece correctly, every time you look at it you'll see something new. It's hard to get the full effect with just photos, but I'm glad to hear it's coming across anyway. I did a "kind of tutorial" quite awhile ago. After I hunted it down, I could tell just how long ago by somewhat the lesser quality of pieces...of course, there's a date on the post as well. It's a bit down rom the top here: http://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/t4674p100-maudeheim-environs-part-i-updated-10-29-13
ub3r_n3rd
Very cool. I'll have to look at it when I get home as my work computer won't allow me to see images from photobucket.
malefactus
I keep forgetting how limited Photo Bucket can be. HOWEVER, I did manage to get the fabrication & priming on the crumbling retaining wall in the Graveyard done. Here are a few W.I.P. photos: AND the Beasty is underway...may I have an "OH BABY!" here? If not a comment or critique would be appreciated...same as always.
