Reaper Swag Bag 2014 suggestion

Recommended Posts

For next year's swag bag you guys should totally put in Reaper decals ::D: I'd love to have one on my car. The spiffy clear kind that can go on windows would be especially nice ::):

Gots to get me more swag, need more pens hehe

I wanna the sharp pointy stick thingy with the skull at the end for cleaning out my Reaper bottles.

And next years Casketworks too. I had a sad when I found it missing from this years.

And a Sophie Mousling.

You heard me. A Mousling that is also a Sophie... Or a Sophie that is also a Mousling... I'll leave the details up to Gene.

And also... ReaperBryan as a Mousling. Complete with his Reaper bowling shirt and trademark hat.

Also. Cookies.

They were available in the store, near the register.

Personally, I could use less stuff, but I understand not everyone has a collection of cups, lanyards and pens from previous cons.

I do like the cup, though I wouldn't mind not getting one next year. I don't care if the new CasketWorks is in there, I can always order that. But the pens are very nice, the ink doesn't run if the paper gets wet, the smooth and flows out of the pen nicely, and it's an attractive pen. Plus it's nerdy. That's the appeal of a car decal too.

My brother recently made a sticker for me which says "Will stop for Tarutaru", so I'd like a few more stickers to show off my nerd ::D:

The thing is, in each of the previous two years the new issue of Casketworks was included in the SwagBags, so there was an expectation there. At some point I will include one with an order, but if I already had a copy I'd be more likely to have enough on my want list to place an order by now.

The drink bottle I received 3 Reapercons ago I do use occasionally in the summer months. The brush cup I like. Pens are not something I use often anymore, except at work. Unfortunately the Reaper pens wouldn't be deemed appropriate to use there.

Stickers are not something I would be likely to put on my car. Especially ones with skulls.

Minis are always good. I very much appreciate those that have been included by Reaper, Red Box, and Darksword.

My Swag Bag had a Casketworks in it. You must have gotten a defective one :(

I didn't get a casketworks either. Maybe they didn't mail them with the swag bag?

And hey, if you don't want your sticker I'll trade you! My sewing machine could use Reaper decal next to the classic rainbow Apple sticker ::D:

While we're throwing out ideas, here's some things that could be cool:

Decals/Stickers/Bumper-stickers

A patch (like a boy-scout sized one, or a bigger one like they did for the Apollo missions)

Or a collectable coin. They have some ridiculously cool-looking ones here: http://www.the-coin-factory.com/, but I'll bet Reaper Could do a couple nice ones on their own.

The theme is still thought to be something wild-west-y, right? I'd take a deck of Reaper Playing cards.

I have to imagine at least a few of those would be cost-prohibitive, but I still think they could be really neat.

That coin factory page comes up 404 not found ::(:

My hotel is running a promo right now where we give away a pack of playing cards to every guest that checks in to promote our Las Vegas casino. They're crappy cards too, but hey, the guests like it. I bet reaper could come up with some pretty sweet ones. Sophie as the Queens. Bryan as the Jacks. Buglips as the Joker. bwuhahaha.

Ed would be the king?

Buglips as the Joker.

Are you trying to get me promoted to mascot? Because I can tell you that while I might not look sexy in Sophie's bikini, I'd definitely feel sexy.

Might push Monkeysloth over the edge, though.

not just Monkeysloth, I assure you. The sight of you in Sophie's bikini would probably drive most of us over the edge, in a a panicked wave, like a bunch of lemmings.

I got my swag bag in the mail, and there's the long hard plastic case as part of the goodies.  I meant to look up the manufacturer online last night and spaced it.  Anyway, what is this thing designed to hold?

Hello again everyone!  Well, I'm finally back to work on another project, and this time I want to go kind of big and grand!  I poured over my collection of unpainted minis for a while before finally settling on Bobby Jackson's beautiful 2014 ReaperCon Sophie, but, in the end, the Western genre just wasn't doing it for me (even though I'm actually from the West myself and often pack my own gun belt and revolver when I'm out hiking or target shooting).  Consequently, I decided that, with a few tweaks to make her look a little more modern, she would make a fantastic Werewolf Hunter out on a night hunt!

So, out came the green stuff!

My modifications weren't all that serious, but I hope they alter the character of the mini just enough (especially when I later put a huge, very dead werewolf on the base with her!).

I thought long and hard about how I wanted to paint her, and, in my mind, I continue to picture a night scene (surprise, surprise), so I am going to try to work blue-grays into every color in the whole composition.  However, I don't want to mute her completely (to the point of going monochrome), so I figure she'll be standing in full moonlight such that all of her colors still show through.  I also really wanted to work on my painted textures.  With all that in mind, here's where she's at so far:  (The wings and hair are only basecoated.)

I've cleared the "get the first paint on the mini" hurtle, so let's hope that this spurs me on to paint like crazy now!

Is this guy the ReaperCon 2016 Convention miniature mentioned in the swag bag?

In a different thread Vince put out a call for terrain assistance the night before ReaperCon. He needed a big hill. (A table was planned that called for a graveyard on a hill.) A link to that thread.

I saw the thread and a few PMs and text messages later it was determined that there was a hill hiding in my rather disheveled workshop room that might do.

      It looked like this:

It was an unfinished slab of pink foam (the top had a basecoat on it). This shot was originally sent via phones to [give] Vince an idea of how big it was. That is a Storm Giant from the KS 1 batch along with a paint bottle for scale (I lack a copy of Sir Forscale).

So, my most recent work. I am quite happy with how he looks in hand. Comments and critiques are eagerly sought by all. Also, this is the first mini I have ever painted that I have given thought to posting in the inspiration gallery. What do you all think, should I,or should i wait until my skills improve a little more yet?
