jdizzy001
Before I started playing wargames I never understood the purpose of terrain. Now that I have been sucked in, terrain can make or break the fantasy players are trying to create when gaming. Kudos on the terrain. kristof65
So I went ahead and purchased the pdf last night, and printed it out and bound it today*. Just need to find time this weekend to peruse the rule book. -------------------- *it's so nice to have my own binding tools and supplies.

Just need to find time this weekend to peruse the rule book. -------------------- *it's so nice to have my own binding tools and supplies. Hope that you and your Gaming Friends Enjoy playing it kristof65! If you all have any questions or problems I suggest joining the very active Yahoo group too ~ it's painless and worth it. (I'm still amazed about having a rules question asking about it online and getting an answer either from Andrea, the author, or a more experienced player so quickly!)

Having some friends to play, paint and build terrain with is really inspirational.
jdizzy001
I'm not going to lie, that sounds pretty cool. I have a friend, we game from time to time, but to have a group who you can game with regularly. Sigh, I miss those days :) Edited July 1, 2013 by jdizzy001
Dibbler
Some rules questions: Mounted figures and combat. If a mounted troop carries an ally, can it fight? What happens with the carried if the carrier falls or dies? Or fails a morale check? What movement speed do you have when moving into a forest? (Do you retroactively get a shorter move?) jdizzy001
That is a new one to me. The only bonus to mounted that I knew of was the +1 atk vs foot soldiers.
joshuaslater
I'm reading my copy of the book this evening. Must play this soon!!!
dispatchdave
Played a few rounds with my friend for the first time. He likes it, and we will be playing more in the future. We started with 300 point army lists; he chose a ~275 point dragon, I took 4 Giants. I got whooped all over the table because I could never get in to melee. Second game was dwarves vs. undead; I once again got my rear handed to me, I think mostly because my vampire (highest point model) tried to go toe-to-toe with an earth elemental (or something like that, we used the Bones Stone Golem to proxy). I'm not sure what I'm going to do for the next game; I think we'll try larger armies. -Dave
Last Knight
Sounds like you guys are ignoring the "your army cannot have more than 1/3 its points in Personalities" rule, Dave. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it may be one source of your difficulties. Glad to hear you're having fun!

Mounted troops also get Free Disengage vs unmounted troops. Flying troops get Free Disengage vs. nonflying troops. Rules I forget in the middle of a game... Eilif
As usual I'm late to the party, for the topic about my absolute favorite game. I play alot of different wargames, but SBH is the one I keep coming back to. Despite it's simplicity, I've yet to tire of it and find that it continues to provide an engaging gaming experience. It's Flexibility allows me to continue to collect and paint a wide variety of miniatures knowing that I'll always have a game to find them in. So far I've painted and played the following types of warbands. 1) Sentient Animals (Justice and Caeke and others) 2) Natural animals, led by a beastmaster 3) Wood Elfs 4) Woodland Charachters 5) Chaos Warriors 6) Desert (arab'ish) Caravan There's almost no other game that makes it so easy to find a use for every Fantasy figure in the Bones KS. My club plays Song of Blades and heroes a lot, we just started our second campaign. Here are some articles about it on our blog: http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/search/label/song%20of%20blades%20and%20heroes I'm in the same club as Tim. We've been playing SBH for about 3 years now. As well as our current campaign, here's a link to the summary of last summer's campaign "The Iron Isle". http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/2012/06/summer-fantasy-campaign-song-of-blades.html It has links to all 8 of our campaign game nights, including the amazing setups we made for our in-town battles and the dramatic race-to-the-ocean finale.
