Adrift
When I got home from ReaperCon with my 2 Vampire boxes, I promptly set about removing 1 box worth of minis from their packaging. After setting aside the minis I had traded to Argentee, I de-bagged the remainder. At first, I noticed that roughly half to 2/3 had some form of bending to them; be it weapons, base, or other. One month later, most of the bending has actually resolved itself just by allowing the minis to simply sit on the shelf. Admittedly, a few of the thicker, or thinner weapons that were bent still have some bend in them, but it's nothing that I can't quickly fix with the hot/cold water trick. Any similar experiences?
buglips*the*goblin
I don't have my Vampire yet, but if some of the bending was due to the tightness of the package that's probably what sprang back. The stuff that needs boiling is probably warping while they're still warm from the mold, but if they pop out unwarped and then later warp because they're all crammed together, then I suppose they'd spring back to their original "as cooled" state. aromaticpose
Yes, the tightness of the package is definitely a factor. I split a Vampire package from the Reapercon auction with three other people, and those Bones have been sitting very loosely piled in a larger-than-Vampire box since April. Most of them were able to spring back without being removed from their plastic bags. I checked a few minutes ago after your post to see if any were still bent. 77045 Orc Hunter (Spear) and 77059 Orc Berserker both have bent or droopy weapons. 89004 Pathfinder Goblin Warchanter and 77039 Janan Female Dragon Slayer are both bent at the point their feet attach to the integrated bases. I've taken all four out of the plastic bags to see if the warping resolves itself, but I suspect the bent weapons will take some boiling. I'll post back on the results in a week or so. It could save some major time if a good chunk of the warping could be resolved without even removing them from the individual packaging. pocketcthulhu
I did see some "perma" bending in my half of a vampire box but a quick boil reset them without any bending on my part, the female barbarian was one of the worst ones as she was bent at about 90 degrees at the ankles. aromaticpose
Just realized that I never did follow up on my Bones observations. I removed the bones I listed above from their plastic bags and set them on a shelf. The did not reshape themselves any more than they had inside the plastic bags. So, if they're not something you need to paint right away, it's probably worth letting them unbend themselves before spending time over a boiling pot and an ice bucket. That time could be better spent painting Bones or perhaps rolling gleefully around in a pile of them.
Vroomer
Thanks for the tip. My Vamp undead horde is the worst as far as being bent out of shape. The rest aren't too bad.

pcktlnt
Yea, mine have been sitting loose in the box and some of the ones that could not stand up can stand up now (reason I noticed was that I started digging through to see which ones needed boiling).
