LizardMage
Here it is folks the Sliver Sculpting Contest. I've been fascinated by this race of creatures from Magic: The Gathering since they debuted in the Tempest set. A race of purely adaptive hive-mind creatures, very similar to the Xenomorphs from the Alien saga. So let's get down to business, due date for all entries will be September 14th 11:59PM. All entries must be sculpted and painted by that date. WIP photos and tips/techniques are welcome, just be kind and make which photo is the finished version. Guidelines: Sculpts must be close to the description below, that being said Slivers are a unique race and come in a variety of shapes and types, but do share some common characteristics. Slivers are depicted with an armored vertebrate body, a long, bifurcated whip-like tail, one arm with a single talon for a hand, and a head with an armored crest. Variations on this appearance exist in accordance with the abilities each has to offer to the hive. Typically they are eyeless. References: http://wiki.mtgsalvation.com/article/Sliver The "As Cards" section will have links to the images used to depict slivers. If you google search beware that their newer forms are very humanoid, and that should be avoided. Use the references between Tempest and Future Sight. You do NOT have to pick a particualar sliver and sculpt it. You can use these as a style guide and create your own. There is no penalty though if you do decide to scuplt an image. It's your show, I just gave you the script. Have fun with this one folks! There is a lot of opportunity to be creative and embellish. There will most likely be sculpting related prizes at the end, I'll announce those later. Knowing your quality and talent don't be surprised if I also offer to buy the sculpts ;) Edited June 12, 2013 by LizardMage
