I, too, use squares for man-made structures+towns (men build at right-angles, usually), and hexes for outdoors, natural caves, and curved structures like the circular dwarven fortress I ran my players through once.

I always wondered if the transition from square to hexagonal grids as you transition from inside to out had to do with the flow of Aether through a magical structure. It aligns at either 60 or 90 degree angles, as dictated by environment. ::D:

Totally stealing this idea for my next campaign - it would help explain why the settled urban population in my setting tends to use different magics from the tribal and nomadic peoples. Cities tend to have a lot of wizards and clerics, while the tribes and nomads have a lot more shamans and spirit guides.

Exciting news from the KS comments (I assume it's Reaperbryan who posted, but I've no way of knowing):

The items I listed below will be complete when the last container arrives (very soon). We know the container is off the boat, so now keep your figures crossed the the train from L.A to Dallas doesn't derail!
Of 18,000+ backers [not 17,000] we have shipped not quite 3000 so far already, the other containers have freed up about 3000 more [including the delayed Canadian orders which can ship now] so 2/3 will be able to ship with this last container arriving.
Watch our main website for a daily counter. I know Kit (Mr. Hands) is working on one so that once the madness really begins you can see our progress. I don't know how soon he will put it up there, and I don't know if it's going to count down or up, but either way, it's all very exciting!

We used squares based maps for interiors, towns, and cities, while hexes were for wilderness and crosscountry maps.

Ah, an old-school man.

@TheAuldGrump: I ran a short campaign using the GBI rules from West End Games for my friends a few years back - I love that system. I just wish my Ghost die was in better shape; the ghost symbol has nearly rubbed off with age, ::(:

Off of mine as well... A fun, silly, system.

I am using another die instead - one from Zombicide... it just isn't the same....

Could you not just paint on a new ghost?

Interesting that there were only like 3000 pure vampire backers but the trade in for Sophie which let you get an almost 1 ft skeleton dragon plus still have money left over was hard to pass up.

I suppose, but it wouldn't have the near-zero thickness of the original inked on Ghost-buster's logo. I don't think it would do the die's fairness any favors. Sadly, the markings on that die are printed on, not moulded into the plastic.

One of these days, I will locate a new one.

-------------

I didn't trade in the Sophie either. She seemed like a cool sculpt, but then, I got almost everything other than Orc-pocalypse.
