Last Knight
Hadn't heard the bad news about Almost Human. This makes me sad. I'm surprised as I had thought it was kinda popular. Fox, man. Fox. I am quite unhappy with what the Fox said. Interestingly enough, I haven't seen anything from Fox... it's all media outlets, and "confirmed sources." Nothing from the network itself.
MatrissaTheEnchantress
So, Fox has canceled Almost Human. This marks the last time I watch a Fox show. I've had it. http://m.deadline.com/2014/04/fox-drama-almost-human-cancelled/ Seriously?!!?!!!?!! Why do people with cool genre show ideas even bother to bring them to Fox for consideration any more? You'd think they'd figure out by now that it is only going to end up being tragically short lived....

buglips*the*goblin
Fox has been cancelling shows early since at least 1990 (Alien Nation), and I know some people who would push that back even earlier. To be honest, I'm surprised they didn't prematurely cancel The Simpsons. And you know, what astonishes me (and it's not confined to Fox) are the number of shows that get cancelled but have good ratings. Must be boardroom politics or something.
Moderator Darsc Zacal Posted April 30, 2014 Moderator Share Posted April 30, 2014 There's been so many really good scifi genre tv shows that have faced early cancellation over the past few years that I've become disheartened over the major broadcasters ability to commit to such projects. But then along comes a show like Orphan Black or even the recent episodes of Agents of Shield and I get happy again.
MissMelons
There's a reason I don't watch much television. Less attachments.
buglips*the*goblin
I'm forbidden from watching anything until it has at least 3 seasons done. If I find it and like it before then, it's cancelled. This effect has been so uncanny that one of my ex-girlfriends used to kick me out of the house so I wouldn't accidentally watch part of a show that hadn't made the requisite distance yet. Being thrown out into the cold for an hour, huddled on the step like a neglected dog, may actually be the source of why I hate Buffy/Angel/Joss Whedon. And, yes, I caught a glimpse of Firefly. But it was accidental, I swear! I didn't mean it! Edit: Actually, come to that, she blamed for that. She called me up and when I said hello there was a long pause. Then... quietly, dangerously, she said: "you watched it, didn't you?" "Watched what?" "Don't play games with me. Firefly got cancelled. You saw it, didn't you?" "I just caught a glimpse, flipping through channels. I... I didn't know what it was! It couldn't have been more than thirty seconds!" *long pause* "Thirty seconds was enough." We broke up some weeks later. Huh. Never really put it together like that before. So... yeah. I guess I really killed it. Y'all should thank me for not seeing any of Shield yet. Moderator Darsc Zacal Posted April 30, 2014 Moderator Share Posted April 30, 2014 I wish Buglips had bad taste in TV shows so that we could use his superpower for good and get some of the carp that's on tv now off the air.

You're not the first to think of that, but lamentably the curse doesn't work that way. If it did, it wouldn't be a True Curse. When people have encouraged me to try this, the effect is reversed. The crappy show will gain astonishing legs and outlive all reason. So the reason I don't like things when they're popular is not because I'm a snooty inconoclast. It's because it has to be this way. If you love it, you won't try to make me love it. Not until it's sure. Not until 3 years have passed. In fact, you'll encourage me to avoid it. Trick me, if you have to.

buglips*the*goblin
So I guess the next time I say I hate something, people who like it shouldn't argue with me. Encourage me! Know that by my hatred of things you love, you get to love them longer! You wait. Just wait and see. I don't want to see Star Wars Episode VII. I've written it off and decided I don't want anything to do with it. Watch! Just watch! It'll be good. It's practically a sure thing. Who loves ya, baby? Buglips, that's who.
Pingo
Fox has been cancelling shows early since at least 1990 (Alien Nation), and I know some people who would push that back even earlier. "Alien Nation" ... ... I strongly dislike spammers and spambots.IrRegardless of how fancy their handbags may be. Fixed that for you. There is a local DJ on the radio station my carpool prefers to listen to that uses the word "irregardless" regardless of the number of times someone corrects him. It bugs the hell out of me. I have an English major friend who does the same thing. Also mixes up "fewer" and "less" pretty much constantly. Every time I took one of the kids (when they were little) to the grocery store I would read out loud the cash register sign as "Ten items or FEWER." They were not impressed.
