Erifnogard
So I keep looking at the two big dragons' bases and thinking they'ld make great wargame terrain. Since the dragons are separate pieces from the bases (judging from the preview pics anyway) and since I think that even if Reaper eventually sells those bases separately from the dragons it won't be any time soon, I'm considering mounting the dragons to the bases with rare earth magnets so I can pop them off when I want. Anybody else thinking of doing something similar? And if you are planning on using something other than magnets, what are you going to use? Suden
I wasn't planning that, but it sounds like a great idea. I was waiting to see what type of boneyard pieces came out as the bases definitely look like good terrain options.
Mistwalker
I too like the bases and I am also waiting to see what turns up in the boneyard, thought I suspect that it may be a while before the made in the US stamped molds work their way down to these bases. Sigh, I am also contemplating a run to get more rare earth magnets. Erifngard stop coming up with good ideas!
scorpio616
While a neat idea, both models need a significantly elevated base. Unless you build Big-K and N-Bomb some other sort of base to keep them elevated, their wings and feet will be bending against the ground. Might be worthwhile for Kaladrax though, especially if one can find a hand or arm that fits the style of the statue. Stick the hand in a base like it is coming out of the ground along with Kaladrax's statue and it may look like it is a colossal golem beginning to animate. I'm not talking about using them separately at the same time though, I just want to occasionally use the base without the dragon. When I'm doing that I'll just set the dragons on something convenient that will hold them.
ironregime
If anyone attempts to bend/cut/reposition Nethyrmaul to be freestanding (or maybe on a flight stand?), please share details. I would definitely be interested in using the dragon part of the model separate from the terrain base.
ttuckerman
Actually I was thinking of using REM to have a pile of bones that assembles into big K.
Magnus Mercury
Actually I was thinking of using REM to have a pile of bones that assembles into big K. And possibly turning Kaladrax into a Transformer in the process. From skeletal dragon to [something] and back again!
dispatchdave
Actually I was thinking of using REM to have a pile of bones that assembles into big K. I think I would do this with Nitinol wire. It's a metal wire that expands or contracts depending on the voltage or heat applied (either will trigger it, IIRC). Hit a switch, tighten up all the Nitinol, and watch Kaladrax self-assemble. Add a radio switch, and you could make him come together without touching it (how cool would that be>!). -Dave
Gailbraithe
Actually I was thinking of using REM to have a pile of bones that assembles into big K. ...don't you think Michael Stipe has better things to do than put your toys together for you? I mean, I know they broke up, but I don't think they've fallen that far.
