Dan Goodchild
I just saw that myself. Y'know the story of the shoemaker and the elves? I'm beginning to think it might be historically accurate. Edit: And yes, I did just admit to checking the countdown ticker at 2am. Don't judge me. :-) Edited June 25, 2013 by Dan Goodchild

Moderator Darsc Zacal Posted June 25, 2013 Moderator Share Posted June 25, 2013 So a couple of mystery orders are being packed for shipping in the middle of the night in an empty warehouse? Buglips... What are you doing?
Dan Goodchild
Nah, if it were Buglips he'd have addressed them to Maine.
Moderator Darsc Zacal Posted June 25, 2013 Moderator Share Posted June 25, 2013 Well, there were two orders. The second was obviously a misdirect. Buglips is tricksy for a goblin.

But to get the orders into the system would require him to use the shipping computer.

hmdrake
Someone's OCD had to push it to 1300, and someone else felt obligated to mess with them by pushing it to 1301.

The initial error was stacking the boxes of Clockwork Dragons next to the boxes of Gnomes. But then, after the first night....
KevinR
I think the two 'midnight' packages today are the stray Canadian packages that we saw pass by yesterday. In discussing the ticker somewhere, Kit said something that sounded like "orders shipped today" was reading the date on the shipping notice. So, if the Edmonton order (and one other we missed) were given Tuesday labels on Monday, they would appear in the shipped counter as soon as it started looking at the 25th rather than the 24th. Bingo: The number of items shipped is based on the number of tracking (or confirmation) numbers generated in a given day. UPS and USPS both commit their date in YYYYMMDD format. Not terribly precise. ... Riveting, right? As I said before: yes, riveting. Edited June 25, 2013 by KevinR
Dan Goodchild
Except that Laramie,WY is not in Canada...
KevinR
Except that Laramie,WY is not in Canada...That's covered by the middle part of Kit's quote (that I omitted above). Location is updated along with line items and orders remaining, not with orders shipped. The number of items shipped is based on the number of tracking (or confirmation) numbers generated in a given day. UPS and USPS both commit their date in YYYYMMDD format. Not terribly precise. To get up to the moment information for items shipped and location, I used the item details table that tracks the scan-out to the second joined to the address table. By our powers combined, I get the three data boxes. Riveting, right? Edited June 25, 2013 by KevinR
Jasper_the_2nd
Your "logic" is all well and good, KevinR, but I'm gonna have to stick with Gnomes....or possibly Buglips....

KevinR
I think the two 'midnight' packages today are the stray Canadian packages that we saw pass by yesterday. I was referring to this statement. Right. Laramie, WY was the last box filled (yesterday late afternoon), and so is still listed on the tracker. The "orders shipped" number is simply a count of all shipping labels that Reaper has created with a date of 6/25/2013 and has nothing to do with when they were printed. My guess is that the Edmonton order (box filled yesterday, but supposed to go with the Canadian packages today) was given a shipping label with a 6/25/2013 date (even though that label was printed on 6/24/2013).
