They should lottery pick one large Bones order a day, so those of us who ordered Vamp + a bunch have some hope :)

They could even announce the daily winner, or at least the winning destination on the homepage or under the banner!

I think they need to not break their rhythm. This task is big enough as it is.

Silly me, I was still living in the reality of our server traffic a couple of years ago, completely forgetting the 100% increase in traffic year over year. We've come a long way from where we were when I started with Reaper more than a decade ago.

I mean, for the love of pete, I'm actively in the process of reworking a number of systems to distribute across a number of servers to lighten the cumulative load. I mean, when I'm not helping pack boxes all day. Serves me right for coding at 3AM.

Anyway, yes, I'm going to see how well Amazon's ECS system will take the heat off of reapermini.com proper. At least if that implodes, it won't take down the mothership (as efficiently and completely).

I'm pretty sure all of the best code gets written at ~3am. ::D:

Is it just me or is the ticker stuck on Montreal?

Maybe. The number of orders shipped is going steadily up, so maybe there are a lot of Bones fans in Montreal.

So, a good lunch of painting later....

Interesting. I pulled the numbers a couple minutes ago (the tracker seems to be having a few issues, I actually got a time out from it).

For the 65 minutes between recorded numbers, only 23 orders show as being filled. However, it shows 702 line items as being pulled, which gives an average order size over that time period of 30.5. So maybe they ARE doing some big Canada orders today. Must now go compulsively watch the tracker looking for my community....

I got a "server is taking too long to respond error" on the first try. On a second try I got Winnipeg.

The problem with having a CS degree is that it becomes very hard to ignore strange computer behaviour. The counter page is triggering my latent OCD because it keeps reverting to order #167 going to Dartmouth. I'm going to have to just close that tab and check every few hours... (Okay, maybe every hour.)

Still.... Things are shipping! Wheeeee!!!

EDIT: Apparently this seems to be a caching thing on my end. This is not going to help my productivity...

On the one hand (and by far the dominant one), very cool that they're getting a bunch of orders out.

On the other hand I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a bit disappointed that they seem to have switched entirely away from doing US shipments while they were doing 5 item shipments. Mostly based on the fact that mine is a 6 item (vampire +5) shipment.

C'est la vie...

I imagine the are trying to get Canadian orders all done quickly as they said they were having UPS people in early next week to make sure everything is ok with the shipment (after spending 6 months to get approval from the Canadian Government, I suspect they REALLY want to make sure everything goes smoothly).

And they tried to do the Canadian orders yesterday, but ran into a UPS software issue, so switched to US orders.

Is anyone getting updates on the tracker? It's been stuck on abbotsford for most of an hour..

Of course, it could just be lunch time in Texas.
