Stuck on a figure

I had planned to paint this figure with arrows pointing down along his leather armor. But it didn't look right. It did, however create an interesting pattern.

 

Now I am wondering what to do with it next. I could paint the arrows to look like feathers I suppose. What do you guys think?

Do you mean the pattern along his collar, That pattern does look like it has potential.

 

What do you plan to do with all the studs on his armor? I would be concerned about making his armor to "busy" if they end up with bright highlights alongside a bright arrow pattern. On the other hand, I would imagine you could find colors that would make them work together quite nicely.

I would add a little color on his collar to make it pop using the pattern you already started
