Bones international orders question re: ticker

Like everyone else, I've been avidly watching the kickstarter countdown ticker thing. It is pleasing to have a tangible way to see how far off my order is, at least in general terms. I have a question though: are all international orders being done right at the end? is there any way to find out how many there are? I sure do see a lot of things being shipped internal to the US right now. (I'm in Australia)

We are sending all the overseas product via US Mail, as we have a better track record with them than UPS for overseas.

Right now, we're looking at about 3,100 packages, and our mail carrier can't handle that workload, so the local Postmaster is supposed to send us a container truck for us to load with pallets. We are currently waiting for them to tell us when that truck is scheduled for.

I will let you all know as soon as I know.

I am imagining my mail carrier, who saw that we had about 40 envelopes for a baby announcement said "Wow, you have a lot of mail to pick up today!", and how he'd react to 3100 Bones boxes.

We'd probably have to put out padding on the ground before he showed up, and maybe have a defibrillator handy.

Not quite the same scale, but the pictures from Mantic's Kings of War Kickstarter were impressive. This was shipping 'only' about 1000 packages smaller than the size Reaper is dealing with, so this might be 10% of the RoW load for USPS.

Have you tried other carriers like DHL, Fedex, etc.?

Or is UPS the only other option?

DHL and FedEx are far more expensive options than USPS. From Bryan's answer, I'm going to infer that these are ready to go, they are just waiting on said truck to pick them up. Then the packages will be on the way to you.

Last I heard they hadn't printed out any of the labels for RoW, so the packages aren't even assembled and ready to be pick up. They're waiting to hear when the truck is available and are going to pack accordingly.

He said last night that the first book of 1500 ROW orders is printed, and ends at nine items. So we're waiting on USPS to send around a truck -_- . I'm not holding my breath.

This is going to sound weird, given all the flak they get, but the USPS is way more reliable than UPS.

I've been shipping paintings to galleries and shows for twenty years, and while I've mercifully never had any problems (but then I have exclusively used the USPS for many of those years now), the art community has quiet horror stories of UPS service, packages lost, art objects vanishing, and so forth.

But the USPS has been fantastic about mailing art. And unlike the expensive private services, they really will go the extra mile to deliver *anywhere* in the US.

It may be frustrating to have to wait, but I have more confidence in the USPS than any private delivery company.

USPS is pretty good. They hand it off to Australia Post here, and their parcel couriers deliver the goods. Our local drivers are quite reliable and can actually find our building (its not hidden in any way, so I don't know how some miss it).

Yeah, I have to say I'm happy enough that it goes through An Post once it reaches here. One lad I know sent a letter to one of our other friends, forgot the address and instead wrote down (wrong) directions. Still went to the right person.
