This looks really great! I haven't seen a beholder in years. Excellent job! I wasn't sure how I missed this post before until I realized your post before the last one was before I started painting! Lol! Kudos!

Yup, its taken me ages to get this far due to not even touching a paintbrush for 9 months or so between times. Hopefully I'll be back at it a bit more regularly now. Time to make a dent in the mountain.

Thanks. Took me too long by far, but at least now its done. Base nearly finished too, just some touching up to do.post-9292-0-37427200-1411828916_thumb.jpgpost-9292-0-42344800-1411828941_thumb.jpg

Progressing OK with the other figs too, although I am making it up as I go along with the 'dragon born'

The assassin is not as blue now and the elf is getting g messier before it gets tidied up.

Managed to get about 30 minutes of brush time so far this week, hopefully a bit more over the weekend, but made some small progress.

I've cracked on with the elf a bit more, he's supposed to be a cleric of Sehanine, but I think I'm improvising on it all a bit too much. He'll be close but not exactly what my player wanted. Inmy campaign the gods are in a war with each other and Sehanine is more of a bloody avenger aspect than normal, hence trying for a blood moon look.

Hes at the even messier stage at the moment, but the end is in sight. I think I'd be slightly more enthusiastic about the task if it wasn't a bones mini, I find the lack of facial detail disturbing :)

I'm distracting myself with the beautifully simple Tooth & Sword minis that recently turned up from Meridian Minis.

I'm starting with the Bunny Wizard for my Daughter, hopefully it will help me focus on the pile of Bones I haven't gone near in months.

Pink bunny, of course, well, eventually

And then there's the Dragonborn, I wish I had chosen a different head for the fig, but I was a little worse for wear at the time and I've never been one to go back and rework stuff unless its vital.

I'm going for mainly ruddy brown to red armour with white detailing and a big yellow stripe up the middle in the shape of the armour back and the 'skirt' It might end up being hideous but if I dither around to much it will end up in the pile of half painted stuff I need to leave for months before going back to. Thankfully that pile isn't that big anymore.

Not much progress this week, work's been kicking my arse with glee.

The Dragonborn bodge job is nearly there, need to tidy up a few bits but I'm leaving it there and moving on afterwards :)

The pink bunny mage has had a few more layers on the 'fur' and I'm thinking its almost there, then onto the fun of the rest of the fig and they eyes, oh dear, the eyes. I should learn not to buy stuff that has big eyes.

I've found another Bones I was in the middle of colouring in, so I suppose I better concentrate a bit more on it than I had. Ginger beard the gandalf wannabe!

and I finally added some more base colours to the elf spearman I'm going to use as a proxy Eladrin swordmage (with glaive) in my rp campaign. Once I've blocked out everything and added on some more simple detail I'll have to decide on the simple stuff like hair and trim colours.

Slow progress again this week. I've added a couple more bones to the list, one day I might actually have no figs left, at thus rate it will be decades though.

Bunny mage is approaching the end of the line. I'll get round to putting up a 'show off' thread at some point with this last batch of slowness, but in the meantime here she is. I'm reasonably happy with her, maybe the ears need dulling down a bit, and the flame she's holding will probably take me ages to get right.

First pirate for a while is up next. I am trying for foppish dandy but I'm not sure I'm pulling it off. I might try some brocade freehand on his coat if I can decide on a pattern beforehand. I'll normally end up making it up and it inevitably goes a bit wrong ðŸ˜

Ginger gandalf is coming along. The hair needs a bit more detailing with some yellows and reds but otherwise I'm OK with it.

Spear mage is also cracking along. I'll leave the face till the end with him as I'm waiting for my player to confirm on a facial scar that it going to means I might have to do it a few times. I'm trying for an autumnal look. I don't think orange is my best color though.

Finally the 2 new additions, in all their primed glory.

it seems that my painting time is rapidly becoming a rare commodity, but I managed to pick up the brush for a couple of hours this week.

ginger Gandalf is almost done, I'm happy enough with the face but need to concentrate more on the little things I think.

A couple more part progressions on some figs, I'm forever picking up the next thing before getting finished with others, but I think I'm at my limit for consecutive minis on the go.

Pink rabbit is pretty much done, just some detailing on the flame and her base to do.

I'm pleased with how the eyes turned out in the end, I'm sure I could get the fur looking furrier, but I'm more likely to ruin it entirely at this point, so best to leave it.

That must be some fear less brush you are wielding !

Seems like you took on the entire Miniature army in this one WIP !!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking good, I'm a one at a time type of guy, can't imagine having to keep a pulse

on so many miniatures.  They are progressing nicely!  Great color's,

The bunny cracked me up !

Great job..

I'm going to resist picking up a fresh mini until this lot is done and then maybe move on to something bigger, I've got some bigger bones as well as Cthulu and Nethyrmaul, but I'm not sure my brushes are ready for that big a step yet.

My partner for the Secret Sophie exchange this year was NecroMancer and they requested demons or some other stuff, so I painted the Queen of Hell.  About the same time I had ordered a 3D printer and I had found a base that kind of matched an idea I had in my head.  The printer was going to ship on time, then it wasn't, then it was, and finally came in just in time to print my display base. It is from the celestial pack by Archvillain Games. It's 100mm plus some overhang. For a bit of additional flair I added some blood imps to the base.
One thing about pre-made display bases though is they can be next to impossible to actually use if they are not designed well.  This base is an example of that as there is so much rubble that I had to carve away spaces for feet or build up the area with a bit of milliput to give them something to stand on. Since ancient statues were actually painted I decided to go with that and put a simple face on the bit of statue that remained.

The Queen was actually painted before my printer arrived and because things hadn't gone crazy at work yet, I actually had time to paint her properly.  I went for a stylized NMM on her armor.  It was the first time I had tried NMM this way.  It worked but I need some more practice to really sell it.  I didn't want her to look like some cheap plastic figure (even though she kinda is ) so instead of going red like the blood imps I made her skin mostly human and then put the orange/red/purples in the midtones and shadows.
Her wings don't fit in my tiny photo setup so...

And with wings. They were not attached for shipping and needed a bit of support, so ignore the paint bottle.  Bones are evil.  Mold lines suddenly appear everywhere.  And for better or for worse, a year from now her wings will sink toward the earth, but they should rotate and touch the base.

A few extra pics I took, if anyone wants to look

This was a repaint from earlier this year. I bought Quickshade Strong Tone for speed painting some of my board games and tried it in Woody. I liked the way it worked for the most part but as you can tell I got some frosting when I matte coated it. Another thing that happened was my paint cracked on my base but I kinda like the way it looks. I probably won't bother fixing any of the issues as I moved on to another figure I am struggling with.

Fun and quick one for RCL new release. Have been aiming for a more dull/gritty looks wtih a lot of my recent figures.

Back in November I posted over on the Conversion WIP sub-forum about a mounted figure I was making using the Bones 4 Giant Rhinoceros Beetle and the Mudcroak Squog figure: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/93699-frog-riding-beetle-conversion/
This past week I finally got around to painting the converted figure, and I  wanted to share the results.
