All My Friends Know The Low Rider

Recommended Posts

Thanks! I've since touched up the base a with a some more water effects giving the water more movement. 1st attempt at making water and I've learned some things by not following my gut and going with the instructions included with the stuff. Instructions were more if you wanted something simple on a train board.

I wanted him to look like he was a bit dirty from traveling through the woods. He was part of my 1st mini purchases back around February, took me a while to get to him and he may have taken the longest so far for me to paint. He was exhausting and I may have bit off more than I was able to chew with him. I think I am going to stick to smaller stuff for a while.

I have recently decided to go back,  touch up and take better pics of some of my previous painted Reaper minis. I only have a few and I hope people don't mind a bump from me each time I refinish one.

I left an old pic in to give a comparison.

Thorvald riding the bear is one of my favorite models...period and I really thought he deserved a second chance show off.

I gave this guy a quick bit of highlighting and added some needed movement to the water.

I can still see more areas to improve on (I am sure it will always be that way with most models), but without completely repainting the guy, I am calling this one done....for now. :)

Sandra Garrity makes some of my favorite Dwarves, and the detail on this one stood out. It doesn't show up much in the picture, but there are some Norse Futhark runes on the blade of the sword in blue that only appear if I rotate the figure 45% left or right. Also, I love dwarves in green.

Apologies that this one isn't Reaper, but I am super stoked with how it turned out and really wanted to share.

I recently started experimenting with glazing, an old and popular technique I have been aware of for years but had never really given much thought to or attempted.  It was like unlocking an ancient magic, I cant believe the difference such a subtle technique has made to my miniatures.  After achieving some promising results on a batch of halflings I recently painted, I decided to experiment some more on a slightly larger model, a 3D printed bust I'd picked up on Ebay (I believe it is by a company called Tytantroll Miniatures).

Anyway I just wanted to share.  Glazing has been a revelation to me, and it just goes to show that it sometimes pays to step away from your comfort zone and try new things.

Several weeks ago I got to go to the hobby store and found a couple of new minis, one was this little jewel.

It is pretty much done in the painting department, but what good is a catapult without its crew?
These are some Oathmark dwarves that I’m converting to do the job.

I admit the barrel is too big to fit in the catapult, but I’m going to find a way to work it in.

I need to build a base big enough to hold everything and get some more dwarves, it is a start though.
      Ideas are welcome!
      Thanks for looking!

Hey, everyone! I hope you're all doing well. I haven't been very active on here for a while, but I've been painting. I figured that I'd start putting up my backlog of models. I love Dwarves, and this was a really cool model to paint. I'm particularly happy with the NMM, but if I were to change one thing, I would probably alter the tone of the hair and beard a bit so that it doesn't so closely match the armor.

It's been a while since I've painted a Reaper miniature, so I thought I would post my latest creation here.

I had a lot of fun painting this mini - blue is one of my favorite colors to blend with, and I enjoy painting fun hair, like her braid in the back.  TMM was used on the metal.
