¿los art culos? o.O // California prop 65

Recommended Posts

So, I was looking over my Kaladrax's box, and I thought maybe your Spanish translator was having a goof on you when the word culos caught my eye. Closer inspection reveals you're missing all the characters with accents or other diacritics in Italian and French as well. Can't speak for German.

As an aside, did we ever figure out what was triggering the California prop 65 warning? Depending on what that was (and perhaps in general) we might want to make a wider disclaimer post about boiling Bones in the kinds of vessels that are also used for food prep.

The Prop 65 statement ends up on virtually everything. California has a 24-page list of carcinogens they list here (PDF). Soft PVC usually contains phthalates, which is the likely source of concern. The mould release agents (whatever they might be) are also likely.

For all we know from that warning, Kaladrax contains aspirin, barbituates, cocaine, marijuana (smoke), oral contraceptives, testosterone, tobacco, or wood dust.

you know all those plastic dishes you use for storing food? Yeah they tend to come with prop 65 warnings too. Come to think of it I think California(the state) comes with a prop 65 warning.

No kidding, everything is labeled as containing potentially carcinogenic substances here in California.

And yes, the German is missing diacritics also.

Kaladrax would be very pleased to come with a warning. This one is not expansive enough in fact.

This product may vanquish you utterly. This product may cause humiliating defeat, causing your players to possibly throw their dice at you. We will not be held responsible for injuries to DM caused by dice.

Isn't prop 65 the one banning marriage between two Bones? Just say NO to prop 65!

I know Prop 66 is the one stating that Californians are hazardous to the health of all non-Californians. and Jedi.

I'm not entirely certain what the Bonesium is made out of, but if it contains vinyl chloride (which is, as I understand it, PVC (which actually stands for polyvinyl chloride) does), then that could be what triggered the warning. Vinyl chloride is on the list as a carcinogen, and after doing a bit of research (I found the least opinionated information https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinyl_chloride#Health_effects'>here), it looks like it's primarily factory workers and those living in the area of plants producing the stuff that are in the most danger.

So...I guess just don't melt your Bones down and drink them as a beverage, and you'll be fine?

Huzzah!

Oh, I know this one. I used to do toy safety testing. The Prop 65 warning appears on almost literally everything that's sold in Cali. It's actually pretty useless and annoying, but you simply cannot sell things in Cali without it. Of course, if you want to sell things everywhere except Cali you're more than welcome to do that.

Doesn't everything cause cancer these days? Even the stuff that stops you from getting cancer?

Considering that people regularly belt themselves with ionizing radiation to help prevent their cancer from spreading, yes. But hey, it seemingly works, so I'm not gonna complain.

Also, California is just all sorts of whacko when it comes to their "safety" warnings. From what I understand, even fast food joints have Prop 65 warnings on their menus. I wonder if bananas have Prop 65 warnings...

I for one am glad this warning is on there even though I don't live in California......I intended eating any bones I didn't want, now I've changed my mind.

2020 has-been rough on everyone but some people have had it rougher than others.  A friend of mine is disabled and has had a really hard time just trying to keep basic necessities done.

I thought I would send her a little friend who's got simpler an cuter problems. Purple is her favorite color.  He goes out in the mail on Monday

      Hope you like him too...

Back when the Bones 4 Kickstarter was running, when the Giant Rhinoceros Beetle was revealed in the Fan Favorites set, someone posted this photo of a Frog riding a Beetle to the Enthusiasm Thread, and I knew it was a conversion I would eventually want to try.  I have an extensive Frog Army, and I wanted such a figure to be a Leader or Hero for my forces.

I had the pieces I needed at hand; the Bones Black "Giant Rhinoceros Beetle", and my rider - for which i  had decided to use the Bones "Mudcroak" Squog figure.

As I looked at Mudcroak, I knew I would have to separate him from his base, but I knew there was no way I could remove all those little toes from the base without damaging them.  So, right off the bat I made the decision to just remove his feet along with the base, with the plan that I would then resculpted them with greenstuff directly onto the beetle's back once I had the frog glued in place.

Here's a test fit, with the frog held in place with blue-tac.

      That's all for right now.

Ok, this may have been asked before and I have a terrible memory and I could not find a straight answer in the FAQ.

The white material vs the slightly less white material (not to be confused with bones black)
I have a what is essentially a bucket of bones miniatures from all 4 kickstarters.  Im a slow painter.
I decided to pick a few out to paint.  I painted Almaran the gold and noticed his head was deformed.  replaced it
Next I tried Durok the dwarf ranger and I noticed his right side did not mold correctly.  Nothing I could do about it but its fine not complaining.
Ive noticed most of my bones 4 that had the new grey material have not had these sort of issues.
I would show pics but I dont wanna...

My question is has this issue been fixed for the older bones miniatures,  Are they being cast in this new grey material?

This was a quick, and fun, paint - I have a soft spot for the translucent figures - painted up as a 'gift' from an NPC to my players. Just open the box for help....

I think most GM's can sympathise, sometimes your players just get lucky going through a dungeon. Maybe the dice are on their side or maybe they're just a bunch of min/maxing little murder hobos that have destroyed everything in their path. What you need is one final encounter, one last way to try and salvage at least some of your pride and show them that they're not quite as in control as they think they are.

There's a room. It's certainly locked and probably warded and what player can resist that? Once they force their way the find this ancient stone circle. There's some sort of mossy ooze growing on its base, but the players attention is drawn to the softly pulsing light from the giant cabochon jewels set as eyes in the carved dragon heads. How can they resist?

A massive thanks to @TaleSpinner for sculpting such an awesome piece, it was a pleasure to paint!

This is when you turn around the portal What comes out of it? Not sure, but its certainly something draconic, maybe even something with 5 heads

Thanks for looking, all comments and criticisms are gratefully received. Hope you liked it.
