An excellent piece! As others have said, the base looks excellent, the blends look nice and smooth and face is great. The face implies heavy makeup which might look weird on a fantasy piece, but fits perfectly on this one. All the above praise is well deserved.

In an effort to leave not just praise, but some constructive criticism, here are a few small things I noticed (standard disclaimer: just because I point them out, doesn't mean I could do any better).

The color and shading of the pants implies blue jeans to me, but the shape does not (too tight around the knees in particular). The front of the hat has some great shading, but the back is kind of plain. From the front, it looks like you may have removed too much of the bottom of the boot, but the back looks fine. I can't figure out if it's just a bad camera angle or not. The raised hand still has some flash on it.

Thanks everyone. Technically, I still have unpainted mini's in my Descent: 2nd Edition board game, so I think I should be safe for a day. ik_wink.gif No way I'm starting that project a day before Bones arrive.

You've got sharp eyes!

I hadn't even considered that on the pants, but you're right. Originally they weren't intended to be blue jeans, but the shading did end up looking that way. I'll need to keep that in mind for the future.

The hat shading was somewhat intentional. I really tried to focus this time on placing highlights carefully based on a consistent light source (in front, above and to the right). However, looking at it again this morning, the hat highlights are probably a bit too forward facing for that, rather than side, which makes the back look plain. Good catch!

For the boots, I think it's mostly a camera trick. The transition from ground to boot is a little muddled since i added layers of sealer to the base which added a bit of extra thickness, but the boots are all there.

Also right about the hand. This was the 2nd metal mini I've done, and I prep'd it at the same time as my sword maiden. As I worked on both, i realized I wasn't as thorough as I should have been with flash cleanup. Lesson learned for next time!

Also, forgot to mention last night, thanks to Corporea, whom I believe is the one who linked this color combo tool previously. I stared at this mini unpainted a lot while working on the sword maiden trying to figure out what colors to use (other than black and white). That tool really helped me figure out a scheme based on purple that would work.

My unpainted mini's collection is now 0...at least for a day.

OH NO YOU GON' DIE!

Quick, get to the FLGS and buy something!

I think Slashhamster is actually as safe as usual, since the Bones minis have already been paid for. (If the Amazon payment bounced, run for your life!)
