Bones You'd Like to See, thread #2

Recommended Posts

My personal wishlist of Reaper favorites are this monster, and this guy, both of which I was pretty surprised weren't in the first KS.

BUT, even more than those... as I've begun going through my own pile of Bones, getting them ready for games, there are two overriding wishes that keep popping up over and over, more so than anything else:

1) Stiff Weapons

Of all the wonky things than could and did go wrong with individual Bones, the one thing that is bothering me most of all is the "flaccid sword syndrome". Now, I considered making some kind of clever innuendo here, but I won't, because I want it clear that it's a serious complaint and not a joke. Having a spaghetti sword (or spear, or axe) takes a cool figure and INSTANTLY transforms it from "menacing barbarian hero/villain" into "cheap piece of cereal-box junk". Some of them can be boil-fixed, but some persistently revert, or are just so thin that they flop around at the slightest touch.

I would really like a pack (or packs) of weapons made in a more rigid material, maybe like Wyrmgear's wings, so I could do replacements, or just swaps for a preferred weapon type.

2) More extensive sets of figures

I was one of the folks really looking forward to the Chronoscope figures, but I would like them more if some of "ranges" were better fleshed-out. For example, I think it's cool to have a few cowboy figures (missing cowgirl nose notwithstanding), but if there were 6-10 figures instead of 2, I could have enough to play an actual cowboy game, which would be much, much cooler. Same thing with pirates, steampunk, pulp, zombies*, superheroes, cavalry, different fantasy or sci-fi races, etc.

*Speaking of zombies, why did we get only half of this couple?

With the rerelease of many of the old AD&D adventures, and resurgence of the OSR, I'd love to see IP friendly versions of:

Aspis Drone

Roper

and then also goblin wolf riders.

Personally I prefer the Olley version.

I prefer the Williams version, but I like both, and would enjoy having the pair. The former would be better for the storoper, while the latter would be better for the original roper. The former is also something I would vastly prefer as a Bones figure; those tentacles could bend and break off pretty easily as a metal mini, while a Bones version could be carried around with little concern about breaking or bending. Even if the tentacles bend, it fits with the kind of monster it is.

It would be nice to have a few different insect men, including the aspis drone or something that could reasonably stand in for it.

I also would like to see the gravedigger's henchman, though making the coffin separate or giving him a more generic bundle or box to carry would make him useful for a variety of roles.

Gelatinous Cube in translucent. Also some slimes and jellies.

And Gorgoroth.

Eh... a translucent cube isn't nearly as cool if it doesn't have stuff floating around in it. A single cast piece would just be empty. I guess if it was a hollow box, that would work, since you could glue stuff around the inside... and at least you'd be able to put it over a PC. Ok, I change my answer to a conditional endorsement based on that alone.

Slimes, yes, absolutely. I can't believe how few slime models are out there. I think there are like 4 in existence. These would also be perfect opportunities to experiment with other colors of plastic.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Kits.

Coordinated with Paizo, release kits containing major NPCs and monsters from any given adventure path.

So Rise of the Runelords 1 would have Tsuto, a few Goblins, Ameiko, a few Sinspawn, and Nualia for ~$25-$30.

RotRL 2 would have the Skinsaw Man, a few cultists, Justice Ironbriar and Shalelu, etc.

RotRL 3 would have the Hookmaw ogres, might be a bit pricier due to size of minis.

I'll add another vote for RotRL sets :)

Throwing in my vote as well. Pathfinder/RotRL is chock full of distinct monster/NPC designs, and I'd love to be able to stock up on them at a good price.

It wouldn't have to be "empty".

You could have some inverted detail in the bottom, thus creating a visible depression within. Once the bottom was painted, it would simply look like a pile of stuff sitting in the cube.

I have already posted a bunch of stuff Id like to see including animals and dire animals. What I didnt mention on that list is a Roc - they are such a popular pathfinder companion, in my experience and I think that they are awesome

Roc+the+unique.jpg

I also want to +1 for a tarrasque

I was about to throw in a vote for a tarrasque mini, but on closer inspection, that might not be so easy...

Here's why

I dont think this would be a problem, firstly Reaper has deals and what not with Piazo already - they do a lot of official Pathfinder miniatures. Or they could always use there own original artwork - the problem with this KS is that he based the model off their artwork.
