Jordan Peacock
I second (or third or fourth or whatever) the idea of translucence/transparency in Bones. That's one area where Bones really shines. I cannot paint a figure "transparent." I have to rely on plastic for that. (Or resin, but that's a mess I'd rather not deal with again.) My recent wishes: 1) Big fantasy tree. I love those Woodland Scenics plastic trees, and I use a bunch of those, but sometimes I want an over-the-top Fantasy Forest full of BIG TREES. I'm talking with a tree trunk footprint of at least 1"-2" or so. Are you worried about making it too "niche" by making a big terrain piece? Then make it double as a MONSTER. Give it a nasty cracked-bark "face" on one side. You could just wave it off as a creepy tree for yonder Haunted Wood ... OR paint it up with glowing green in the hollow parts of those holes to suggest eyes and jagged mouth, and it's some nasty tree-monster encounter. Or maybe hang a few nooses from it and make it a Savage Worlds "Hangin' Tree" (and any terrain-builder can just snip off those nooses if he wants an ordinary tree). Foliage isn't necessary, but if included, I'd suggest abstract "clusters" of leaves glued onto the branches. That way, if I want a winter tree, I can just pop those things off. I think it'd be best to just default to bare limbs and if someone wants a leafy tree, there are plenty of hobby methods to add flocking, lichen, etc., to do the trick. It'd also be nice to have a pack of big cracked tree stumps. Either they can be used to represent literal tree stumps ... or get several in a cluster and glue down to a base and use it to represent a patch of forest (just without any "actual" trees that might block player LOS -- it's just UNDERSTOOD that everywhere you see a stump, that's the base of a tree, and the trees extend overhead -- kind of like what happens when you slap down a floor map and we all UNDERSTAND that there are walls and a ceiling even if it's not represented in its entirety on the table). 2) Stained Glass Window. Big archway with a translucent or transparent insert, with exaggerated raised "lead" dividers. I've gotten passable results with using acrylics on blister plastic, but having an actual molded piece would probably look better and hold up better. (My various blister plastic "stained glass golem" pieces from a decade or so ago -- inspired by a certain scene from Young Sherlock Holmes -- have eventually shattered due to hardening of the plastic. :( ) This would be great for a display-piece backdrop. Or pair it with a "Stained Glass Monster" for something really memorable that could look awesome on the table. ;D 3) BIG dungeon door / BIG sci-fi door. I don't have all that much trouble finding SMALL self-standing dungeon doors or sci-fi doors anymore, but what I have trouble with are grand double doors or blast doors large enough for my BIG fantasy or sci-fi models to plausibly get through. Exactly HOW big? I'm flexible on that. I could make use of various sizes, but something 3-4" wide would be especially useful. Extra-large trap doors or hatches (for putting on the floor) might be nice, too. 4) Modern door -- preferably in a bulk pack. Okay. I've listed this before, but I STILL have trouble finding self-standing game-scaled doors that could work either for the Wild West OR for modern day. Even when I'm using paper grid maps, I find it's very useful to have some sort of marker to represent doors. It's kind of sad and lame when I'm using sci-fi or fantasy doors to do the job for a modern or near-modern setting. 5) Energy ball. Make it blue. Or green. Or purple. I'm already covered for red with that fireball piece from Bones I. Maybe give it some little flares or "lightning" tongues, or something. Either it's some sort of energy monster encounter (will o' the wisp?) or else it could be a cool piece for converting a superheroic or martial-arts or alien or wizard mini to look like he's powering up to unleash a power-blast at someone. I'm happy to say that an AWFUL LOT on my previous wish lists has already been made, or else seems to be on its way (after getting a load of those previews). :)
ScryingEyeGames
Jordan's idea of an "energy ball" would be perfect if done transparently, so you can do any colored glaze over it you want!!!
Owainfox
I would love to see more cyberpunk/wasteland, especially non-humans like Caine, cyber-troll, and would love for a range of the more Victorian steampunk metals go bones. As much as I enjoy my assortment of wild west stuff from bones 1&2, I am talking Benedict Baker, the assortment of Victorian ladies and the wizard of oz sculpts to join my Decker Lugstamph. ScryingEyeGames
I'm agreeing for all the "real world" animals, along with my usual request for swarms of various types. My need at the moment is caravans: wagons, carts, horses, mules, ponies and camels would REALLy be useful. Something else that I've noticed is that there are not many adventurer-styled scifi sets, like a set of uniformed and/or spacesuited characters in male, female, canine, feline, and reptilian. We've got the Nova sets, but that's the only look-alike set that isn't just all male-humans. That would be really useful in our Traveller games. (Pretty-pretty-please?) ;-) Edited May 11, 2015 by ScryingEyeGames
Moderator Chaoswolf Posted May 12, 2015 Moderator Share Posted May 12, 2015 Jordan Peacock has some pretty cool ideas up there ^^^.
ScryingEyeGames
I'm sure you've heard this plenty, but alternate riding animals: Riding dogs and Dire Bats would be MOST cool. And an accessory saddle pack to turn the existing giant spiders into riding spiders (for mites and goblins), or just general saddles/saddlebags would be fantastic.
Ted Kord
They can only give so much plastic for the dollar, I'd rather not see it used on large bulk generic items like wagons or doors and windows unless it is part of an add-on. For me Bones is about swarms and the go-to stuff lots of people use. I love the occasional Cyborg-Gorilla with Gatling gun arm as much as the next guy but key word being occasional. I always get most excited with the groups and duplicates of stuff, like the 7 Bearbugs, 7 Gnolls and 10 Skeletons and of course the first core group of random hero, villain and NPC characters.
Thrym
Repeatable terrain pieces were an interesting touch in Bones II. Especially the modern/sci-fi containers and such. Barrels ... welcome. I'd like to see some more columns. Carved pieces of artwork that can be "good" or "evil" depending on how you paint them. Perhaps more statues to display and yes, we can paint monsters as statues, etc. but some larger and medium sized statues that are in positions that aren't action shots. Like a kneeling knight the size of an ogre. Or a women with her arms open, eyes closed and head tilting upward. Dwarven statues of size and bulk looking down over great axes held with the axe head in their hands. All of these things can be repeatable inside many a venue. And the statues can be made of granite block and plaster where some has chipped away and worn. Mix in the blue translucent for ice sculptures and maybe some made of flames or shadow with clear and purple translucent plastic. It would be a great and reasonably priced option for larger pieces. I'd love to make an archway from two large dwarven statues and some columns to place miniatures in front of for pictures or display. Ted Kord
If someone really wants to make a large statue why not just order a miniature from a company that makes larger scale miniatures and paint it like a statue? There are even 54mm miniatures on Reaper, or there used to be. Seems a lot easier than everyone else getting stuck with a giant praying dwarf. http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/54mm/sku-down/30011 Giant Female Knight looking down http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/54mm/sku-down/30004 Giant Female Knight pointing toward the entrance of your dungeon http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/54mm/sku-down/30009 Giant Not-Daenerys Targaryen pointing off in the distance even found one in already in bones http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/minotaur/sku-down/77376 Giant Minotaur looking down menacingly and if none of those were big enough for you http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/72mm/sku-down/01414 a SUPER giant Grim Reaper It's a creative hobby, get creative. It's like people wanting different shaped slime puddles when they could go buy a hot glue gun and make endless slime puddles of every shape and size. Werewolvians
I'd really like to see this in Bones III. It would be awesome. Can we make this happen? Please? He could be holding a Pina Colada or you know, a severed head while running his hand/paw through his hair. EDIT: Well, now that this got moved it doesnt make sense anymore. So let me fix it. i want to see a WEREWOLF WEARING A TUXEDO!!! WHO'S WITH ME?! Edited May 12, 2015 by Werewolvians
Glitterwolf
I like the idea, post this in the kickstarter topic about Bones III. Maybe it will get picked up then.

redambrosia
In the "Bones Miniatures & Legendary Encounters" section there's a pinned thread at the top entitled "Bones we'd like to see". That would be the correct place for a request such as this. The thread Xherman references is in the Kickstarter discussion forum and is entitled "Reaper Miniatures Bones 3". It quickly became a request/demand (lolz) thread for when to have the upcoming KS. Hope this helps

I appreciate your links to existing miniatures and yes, some with statuesque qualities. A. This is a suggestion thread and mine was just a suggestion for some statues. Things that look like statues upfront and might be distressed, missing plaster or not even whole. Statues with exaggerated or otherworldly features that aren't just Medusa petrified monsters or giants. Perhaps a body to go with the stone face under the Bones Kaladrax. B. It's a suggestion, not a request for something to be added to the next Bones Kickstarter or requiring anyone to buy it. C. I know how to make a statue from an existing miniature. And have several pieces already set aside for the purpose, even some among the reasonably priced Bones miniatures. I know where to find larger scale models. I don't necessarily want to spend $20-30+ to convert a metal miniature of unusual size into a statue. A $7-15 Bones piece, sure. Being made from the Bones material also keeps the weight down for something that is basically a terrain piece now. That would make them more portable for use in gaming as the Bones line is intended for.
redambrosia
In the kickstarter format there could be an add-on package for terrain or statues. If you don't want it, you don't have to add it. I think I would add it, because I am really digging all these statue, building, and terrain ideas. Really love the tree ideas too.
