Shakandara
You can look at the preview mini and see that the face just does not have the nose that the metal one has. That may be the case, but I'd not recommend preview pics as a good measuring stick, as raw Bones are so hard to photograph well. In this particular instance it happens to be accurate. Buglips: yes, the revolver isn't quiet as nice as the metal version. ~v
The Dread Polack
I'm a little sad to hear this, although I'm withholding judgement until I get mine. Even assuming that loss of detail is a real problem, I'm not going to sweat it because 1) the Kickstarter was such a good deal, I can afford having a few with poor detail, and 2) I think that having them cast by Reaper instead of in a factory on the other side of the world will likely eliminate much of this going forward. Bones were still pretty new when this Kickstarter started, and it's possible with the vast majority of them being put into consumers hands in the span of a couple weeks will identify some real flaws, but it still looks like Bones, overall, are still a good product, especially for the price. At least quality control will stop most of the flawed minis, and buying them off the rack at your FLGS will give you a chance to have a look before you put your money down. Heck, with the price of these things, I bet Reaper won't feel bad about scrapping a few out of the mold. Anyone know if the plastic can be reused or recycled in any way? Slendertroll
Anyone know if the plastic can be reused or recycled in any way? I know Reaper can recycle a certain percentage of Bonesium back into the mix, but I think they fill that quota with miscasts and so forth. If you're talking about the minis you already own, they can definitely be reused! Just stick 'em on some zombie's base or something.
smokingwreckage
Stick a zombie head on it! Personally at the price point I'll be happy if 80% of the sculpts are good. No company has ever put out 200+ sculpts and had them all be excellent. I figure if a given model turns out to have a real issue with the mold or master ... and that does happen ... that Reaper will likely re-master it. I wouldn't expect such a massive jump in production to come without any hiccups. And of course, I can tolerate a LOT more flaws in a line of minis that cost me less than a dollar a piece than I would in one that cost me $16 a piece :)
eriochrome
The cowgirls face looks alien enough that you could just paint her green and make her an alien cowgirl. Maybe a hybrid or something. That specific model could also have a mask sculpted over the face.

It's worse than the other faces I've examined, which seem fine. That said, painting Sir Forscale has made it clear that some of the finer details are shallower on Bones than I'm used to. I'm hoping that this is something I can learn to work around.

It would be nice to know that at least some of it can be melted back down and reused, or at least tossed into the recycling bin. If any of mine aren't usable as-is, I'm sure I can find a new purpose for them :)

buglips*the*goblin
Do we know how these are made into steel molds? I can't remember if that came up or not. Are they laser scanned?
eriochrome
Unpacted the fantasy minis and found these ones lacking compared to some of the others. The townsfolk with the two kids from my set is pretty poor for facial features on the kids. Kyra the Cleric from the pathfinder is pretty weak in the nose. Juliette Female Sorceress really has no discernable fingers on one hand.

I think so--how else would they have been able to stretch Kally out like they did?

eriochrome
Ofcourse for new Bones their is no need to physically sculpt the models. All digital design should be the path forward since it is the digital file the determines the mold. For this project they were mainly just transfering existing sculpts.
