Speed-Painted Bones 2-Wpn Ranger

This is a Bones figure I painted in about 2 hours for a D&D character. My goal was to get a decent-looking job done, and that's it. Nothing special.

It is marketed in the Reaper Kickstarter as a "new Bones" figure. It looks just like Kellen, Nobleman Adventurer, but with a hood. I couldn't find an SKU for this exact figure, though, since it's not available yet.

Sure!

When I speed-paint, I start by base-coating the entire mini. I use the highest highlight color of each section for this step. Then I shade the entire mini quickly with very thin navy blue. Next I shade each section with a semi-dark midtone. For the sleeves I used hunter green. For the leather and pants I used brown liner. For the cloak, black. If the area needs blending, I'll use a midtone for that. On this figure, that was really just the cloak, where I wet-blended layers of gray and black until it looked pretty good. Then I added a spot of gry to the armor studs and painted the swords. The skin and eyes were last, and I painted them how I usually do, just stopping when they looked decent, instead of working on them until they were really good (good for me).

He looks really good for a 2hr job - which is the most I want to be spending on mini's unless it's a special one for some reason, so thanks heaps for the process involved!

Man it's so simple and yet I've always started with the darker colours regardless and then wonder why my mini's are all so dark.

It's at times like these that I despair of ever even becoming an average painter ;p
