OOC Question & Character Thread

********************************************************************

After six weeks of traveling with the caravan, what you Remember most is when the noise stopped. The creaking of the wagons over the rough roads, the screaming baby which came two months early and has not slept since its head first saw daylight, and the grumbling of Sader Kareth, the merchant lord of the caravan. All he had asked was for you to escort his caravan to the city of Danara, you of course, thought he would sail through the straights and into Blood Harbor, after all that would take a quarter of the time than going by land. You did not even think of asking how you would get to Danara.

Now six weeks after you began your trek you are camping within view of Danara, a small city of a few thousand people, near the edge of the world. To the South is the city of O’niara and the Jungle of Tanzania, to the west are the Ka’Asa Mountains whose peaks climb so high as to touch the gods. To the east are the oceans and the north is the long way home.

A lone figure stands back on the horizon watching the caravan. His bow in hand, he has been following for most of the six weeks, always staying out of reach, sometimes seen, sometimes within the shadow, but always a presence.

The sun is setting and Sader calls everyone around him and speaks, “I know I was ever so slightly manipulative when I asked you to join me, but it was my honor to travel with you all, I have learned a bit about each of you and in turn a little about myself. I will be giving everyone a quarter share bonus upon the sale of my goods. In the morning we will pack up for the final time and reach the city of Danara. Now if someone would go fetch the barrel of ale we picked up from the Cockheight (slang for halfling) gypsies, it is time to celebrate.” With that Sader points to his three captains (PCs) and calls you over for a private meeting.

“Good travels gentlemen, the weather was rough, those things they call roads and the ire of the gods prolonged our trip, but my charm and wit was enough to keep a profit of this after all.” He slaps Dane on the back and says “Who would have figured I could sell so little for so much from those small towns.”

A sudden whistling breeze whips through the small group and you notice it only rustles Sader’s hair and the breeze seems to stop right there. Sadar pauses in his conversation and looks out into the sky. His lips again move but you notice instead of words, a whistling breeze parts from his lips and soon fades into silence. Jen notices that while he was doing this an sapphire ring on his finger danced with energy.

“Sader shakes his head and looks back to the group. “It seems there has been a change of plans. I need you to meet me at the Black Berry Inn tomorrow night. It seems I may need your services a bit longer. Tonight, someone needs to talk to our friend.” Pointing to the silent shadow on the horizon. He then turns and pauses as if to answer any questions. Sader looks as if he is ready to dismiss himself.

Dane is glad that the journey is almost over, when he agreed to work for Sader it was out of a desire to reach a major city. In which hopefully he could start to find out about his people for the city surely had a great library. While he had no problem coping with the land journey for the conditions were much better than those of the monestary he still had hoped for a faster journey. Still the time had been well spent and he had learnt much about people and the ways they acted.

Dane turns to Sader "Master Kareth I would be happy to deliver a message. What message do you wish me to pass on ?"

"Your company Mistress Denarine will be most welcome. Once you are ready we can depart. May I suggest that we keep our weapons out of sight so as not to alarm our friend."

Opening her arms in a wide gesture, Willow smiles her most disarming smile and winks at the monk. "But Dane, I'm not armed." She then looks over at the mysterious figure. "Let's be off then, the chill grows and my bedroll calls."

As fast as maintaining her feminine gait will allow, Willow catches up with Dane and falls into step alongside him.

"So Dane, what do you think our new job will be then huh? Any ideas? Course, I doubt you even care, cos you're such an easy going kind of guy." Will says as an attempt to strike up a conversation.

"I have no idea what Master Kareth would want to employ us for. Nor am I certain if I will be able to undertake it, as you know my reason for coming to the city of Danara was to spend time in the library there. If this new job does not stop me from doing that studying then I am happy to asssist Master Kareth otherwise I am not so sure." Dane replies.

"Oh yeah, I forgot about your quest to visit the library." Replies Willow as she walks casually beside the Monk. "You know, I don't think I've ever been in a library. Certainly not a big one like the one in the city of Danara."

Jen rides along, quiet for now as the monk speaks with her companion. Her mind wanders as she seems to pay attention to evreything but the conversation. THe road, the sky, the other travlers on the road... all of these things seem fasinating to the young lady. Occasionally she'll murmer a quiet prayer and touch the holy symbol dangleing at her neck, but over all, she seems content to ride in silence while her companions converse.
