What should I buy for Paintbrushes?

There are some good moderately priced nylon watercolor brushes on the market that are just fine for most modeling needs. They'll often have cutesy names like "white sabalon", "gold takalon", etc. and cost a tiny fraction of sables. Acrylics can be rough on natural-hair brushes, so save your fine kolinsky sables for your most important strokes.

I keep hearing people talk about this or that being rough on brushes, but I've used my WNS7s (1 and 2) for everything but drybrushing and they're as good as the day I bought them almost a year ago. I'm not a high volume painter, I do clean them regularly (but not after every session), I am a bit picky about not letting paint get in the ferrule and trying to rinse them regularly.
