brisingre
I'm going to assume "badly" because it's usually acetone-based, but has anyone tried it?
smokingwreckage
If I had any I'd test and post a pic.
dglass
Just let them soak in a tub of Simple Green.
Jasper_the_2nd
So I had to remove a base off a fig tonight, and I figured I'd try that bottle of BSI Un-cure I'd picked up. Worked like a charm on the metal fig. While I was at it I glued two bits of Bones rat sprue together with some Gorilla brand super glue. Glued to bits of metal sprue together too and let them dry for an hour or so. Tried the un-cure on them. The metal popped apart after a couple of minutes. After a second application I still couldn't pull the Bones apart. The glue on the surface seemed soft, but where the two were bonded together (I glued them in a cross so very small contact area) they wouldn't budge. I was pulling hard enough to completely deform them and they stuck as if they were melted together. Other than that it appeared to have no affect on the Bones material itself. I'll check on them tomorrow and see if anything else happened.
JeffStray
Oooooh...using sprues for various tests is genius. I nominate you for president.
brisingre
Interesting.Someone suggested Simple Green. Does that remove superglue?
buglips*the*goblin
It weakens it on metal figures. In my experience it makes it turn brittle.
Pally
Sounds similar to the plastic used in GW's figures. I believe the plastic used in those will melt and soak up glue, paint, etc.. The end results tend to look quite horrible. So yes, I'd be very careful when gluing Bones minis. The results may very well be permanent. Same with your paint job. brisingre
Paint comes off of them in alcohol. Superglue seems pretty permanent though.
ttuckerman
Paint comes off of them in alcohol. Superglue seems pretty permanent though. Or Simple Green. The anser to the super glue problem? The knife. If you can't bebond superglue just cut the bones right next to it. Reposition and reglue. The bond is so good you do not need the pin/socket for stregth. Just my two cents. brisingre
Yeah, right now I'm scraping the glue off, it's working okay.(I didn't join something by mistake, I used too much glue and it got onto parts of the model surface where I didn't want it. It's not too noticable though.)

I was amazed at the strength of the bond. I was pulling hard, and I'm not what you'd call small. I think the Bones material itself may have started to tear. I've got some pics on my phone I'll unload after lunch. I'd say that at least with the Gorilla super glue (which is more flexible than some) there is no need whatsoever to worry about having to pin or anything. Haven't tried the more brittle types. Xerobull
I'm no chemist but I can tell you that when you use cement on PVC for plumbing, it 'welds' the two pieces together, essentially making them one piece. Superglue & bone material may do the same thing.

Phoenixmoo
I took apart at least one of the gnoll warriors. I may have done some others figures too. I just moved the joint back and forth until the glue broke. The factory glue was much harder and more brittle than the bones so it eventually broke. I haven't tried this with super glue but I would expect similar results. I may have damaged the bones slightly (similar to what Jasper mentioned) but the damage was all inside the joint so it didn't matter.
