[Open/Group] Bones Elementals/Forces of Nature WIP

Since seeing the Bones Elementals as an add-on option, I have been plotting and planning my very own magma elemental! Whooo!!! Also since I got 2 sets, I'll probably do a traditional earth elemental to satisfy our Druid's tendency to hang around in wild shape... unless I can talk the DM into allowing a magma elemental...

Anyway- prepped figure by washing with soap and water and trimming mold lines. used sanding needles for hard to reach areas. Put on a basecoat of walnut brown (see- don't you just love walnut brown!?) and started in on some simple shading with blood red and saffron sunset. I originally intended to use carnage red but grabbed the wrong bottle. Oh well. Blood red it is!

I intend to really make this guy glow. Anyone who wants to play is welcome! Elemental party time!

Wow, there a a lot of fantastic WIPs to wade through... I'm so glad everyone is painting!!!

 

I've made some progress on magma man. His arms are still detachable to make it easier to paint, but I pinned them on just to see how they'd look. I tried to put in some teal highlights on the walnut brown.

I'm trying to work out if I want to put a glow on the inside of his hands, or leave them shadowy.

Wow! That is some of the best magma painting I've seen. Too often the colors are too super bright and saturated and the effect ends up cartoon like. Nice job!

What order did you put the paint on? I struggle to get that sort of clean crisp colour on a dark base colour.
