Glittering Cave

Well it only took about 8 months but I finally finished it. This is a present for my sister, was going to be Christmas but instead now it's a birthday.

 

The dwarf is from Center Stage and the elf is from Feeblades. You can see the WIP here.

 

Didn't get to work on the elf as much as I would have liked, he's got about half the amount of time into him as the dwarf but since I painted them up six months apart I was able to use some of the improved (ie quicker) techniques so while it was half the time it's not quite as noticeable (though I really need a few more hours). The only real place I'm not happy is the elf face, I had some primer issues and I should have stripped and started over

It turned out beautifully! A very thoughtful present! I love the crystals. The colors are nice and warm- very inviting. Great composition as well. I know she'll love it! Congrats on finishing!!!

The photos aren't the best as I realized too late that it was way to big (mostly on height) for any of my current setup.

 

I think I'm most happy with the colors as I've managed to stick with a fairly desaturated scheme that allowed the crystal\rock in the center to really be the focus but yet the minis themselves don't just blur together.

Great work, It's nice to see how it turned out. The crystal are a good addition to the ensemble, they remind me of the giant crystal cave in mexico. The dusty ground works well too and I like the way you painted the edge of the base.

I have to admit I don't think I would have gone to the scope that I did with this if it wasn't for all you're crazy bases you were making last year Metalchaos.

 

I'm quite happy with how the crystals pulled the scene together, I was quite worried that they'd clutter things up too much but they ended up working quite well.
