OK best mini of 2003

Recommended Posts

As we only have a few more days before 03 closes, just curious on what everyone thought was the best mini of the year, at least from Reaper.

DH line--2725 Alaine,

Female Paladin or 2719 Ametrine Earthlyte,

Female Dwarf Fighter or 2667 Sprig Sorethumb, Halfling Wizard are my choices

Warlord--W14068 Duke Gerard or W14055 Marcus Gideon,

Undead Hunter are my favs

maybe if there is enough response to certain minis, we might see them as a 72mm special edition???:rolleyes:

anyone else??

Great idea, Randy!

My vote definately goes to Duke Gerard. What a fine sculpt from Bobby Jackson!

As far as DHL figs go, my vote goes to 2701, Thor, by Tim Prow.

It's very hard to choose  but for me the two best mini are:

Warlord 14042: Thorgram Grimsteel, Dwarf King by Werner Klocke

Dark heaven 2700: Toxanimer, Wizard by Sandra Garrity

I'm quite partial to gael's Amiryth Elmlighter (DHL 2711).

From the Warlord line, I like the Chaos Wizard (14060) by Tim Prow.

I'm quite parital to the entire dwarf line for Warlord actually. Dukie is nice, but he reminds me of a 40K miniature somehow. A blood Angel or something...

Not a Reaper, but Werner's Flying Pirate Ship is still sitting near the top of my "want" heap. A Martha would be nice too, but a wee bit pricy (accounting for Canuck Buck conversion) to pass my cost-benefit analysis at this time.

Heresy also has some nice ones... I *LOVE* that beast dog thing inspired from GHostbusters, and those lurker spiny thigs are waaay cool too.

If I had to choose a single mini though, I think I would probably go with...

arrrrg.... arrrr.... grooooan....

Lysette.

Yup. Definitely Lysette. Closely followed by Margara (Not to be confuse with Martha the Uber Dragon) Firetongue.

the fat frog demon lord sitting on the pile of skulls is wonderful. i mean really really a great mini.

but perhaps I'd have to go with the Yeenoghu mini (undead lord of the gnolls, i forgot what y'all call 'im.)

Naaahh. I guess the only mini i could really call the greatest is the Demogorgon mini. A tentacular masterpiece!

to be perfectly honest tho', i haven't bought any CAV's or other sci-fi minis from reaper, so it would be my favorite from DHA or Warlord only.

Uhmmmm, that's a tough choice  Lemme think.....

For Fantasy I have to chose between Shae (by Steve Buddle), Tara the Silent (by Werner), The Freebooter Mercenary Huntress (by Werner) and finally the winged fairy (by suprise-suprise Werner). I think I'll have to choose the Freebooter Huntress. I'm painting her right now and she is just SO beautiful. The fairy gets the vote for best Reaper of the year. She is so feminine and elegant

For Sci-fi I'll have to choose one of the Dark Age minis (since I'm not into robots). I dunno what right now, but it will proably be female and it might just be sculpted by Werner or Steve Buddle......

I can honestly say...I couldn't pick a particular favorite if I tried. Though in Warlord, my favorite is Lysette, but I don't think she was a 2003 three release. (I can't remember back that far!) And I can't pick a particular fav. from the Dark Heaven line.

We need a lot of categories like the award shows on TV.

"Best left-handed dwarf with a crossbow....."

Ok, here's my short list:

DHL:#2711 Amiryth, by Gael. Perfect grace and beauty!

Honorable mention: 2707, Odum Rumblebeard, by Jason Weibe,

and 2746, Calla/Death Cultist, by Werner.

WL:#14060, chaos Wizard, Tim Prow. I'm in awe at this level of detail.

Honorable Mention:14083:Demon Sergeant, Chaz Elliott, and

14077 Griffon by Sandy Garrity.

Seriously, it doesn't get released by Reaper if it's not among the best. 2003 was a banner year for fantasy collectors and gamers. If 2004 tops this year, we're in for one heck of a ride.
