Bones Kickstarter #2 Pre-discussion

I was certainly aware that their metal releases dwindled to the point of insignificance during the Kickstarter and on a personal level I don't like it. All new sculpts sounds in Bones sounds like ... I don't like what it sounds like for metal, but maybe I'm just waking up to the reality of what I gleefully backed a year ago.

If the original sculpts end up being like the original 30 in KS 1: The Kickstarter Menace I don't see where it becomes an issue.. It might also be a whole new set of Warlord army packs like several of the other wargame companies have done.. hard to say.. Stretch goals will hopefully be existing sculpts..

I'm wondering if they actually meant "new sculptures" or "new Bones" meaning none of the existing line. Just a thought.

Also, based on the poster, the first thing I though of was: Bones II: Nethyrmaul's Revenge, with the whole thing being based around a 1/12th (or some similarly huge scale) Nethyrmaul....

Maybe they've decided to go with kickstarter for new sculpts and just work their way through any existing sculpts (like the lost P65 figures) through the normal release schedule, a bit like there were the non-KS Bones released between when the last KS finished and the KS Bones were sent out. It could also be that after the few problems they had with figures not transitioning to Bones properly that they'd rather sculpt all future Bones from scratch to make sure that they are compatible with the material.

I do wonder what will happen if they promise all new sculpts and then have sculptor delays like with those two elves.

Imagine how long until completion the last KS would have been if it was all new sculpts. There are tons of existing sculpts that I would like to see in Bones, Including the old P-65s. A smattering of new sculpts dispersed here and there through the KS would be awesome.

with all the craziness about the cheap plastic i think the metal is gonna dwindled even more until they stop selling metal like Rackham did....

I have a lead on a lobster pot.

My question is: Does Kaly turn red and scream in rage when you dip him into a large pot of boiling water?

I have to say that can not imagine that this KS will be all new sculpts, they wouldn't really have had time to do 200+ sculpts - right? Maybe the rep meant all new to Bones? And if it launches 1 to 4 months from now, they would've been sculpting from the end of the last one until the launch to get that many I would imagine. Then again, it could just be really big sculpts, but only a small amount of them... hmm.

So the other day I wanted to get some more storage for my already large supply of materials and bones minis, got a resounding "no" from the wife *shudder* she even wanted me to "get rid" of some stuff! Guess she'd take very unkindly to me buying another set of bones so soon after I just got a shipment in. At this point with over 200 minis yet to paint, I don't think I'll be able to jump in on this KS unfortunately. I'll just have to sit back and look on in envy as the rest of you pledge, get the new minis in, and start posting pics of your awesome paint jobs.

Worked well for Rackham.

As far as new sculpt, my guess would be that starts as the 'original 30' from Bones I started. Some of the P65 stuff would be logical to show up as stretches.

What makes KS2 a success to me is all different minis from KS1 (which is what I think the rep meant, all new sculps would be very challenging). I want more monsters. More dungeon items too would be cool. Mounted a hit too. Lastly, since I flip my Kickstarter products, the value ratio needs to be close to the same so I can profit off of it. In fact, more monsters are critical to this one. Having done heavy trading with people, I also know what wasn't valued highly and what was, so hopefully more of the same will be in there (so I know what sets to buy more of!)

For me the add-ons only really panned out on a few of them, most were retail priced (one above retail). I'll be way more careful the next time around about the add-ons (yeah, I say that now, but I have a spending addiction and am a hoarder, that would be the *plan*, the execution of said plan will be very very messy - especially when I see coolness and have to have it - or a dozen of them...)

Reaper's communication didn't really matter a whole lot to me, being established they can't afford to not deliver (eventually) what they promised - and - they worked to the bone to get them out. Nothing but respect for them.

So, with some SKUs dropped, are they going to be collectable?

There's a potential for one of them as it was a sculpt that so far is only in bones. Can't see how the other's they're dropping, which are still in metal, really being worth that much except to a person that has the have every bones cast.

I personally am not sure at what level I'll back bones part 2 as what I'm interested in are the larger figures, that are expensive and unwieldy in metal, and NPCs and other figures that I don't care about the quality of the sculpt or paint job. I might just do what a friend did with Bones part 1 is buy in and then sell most of it and make a 300% profit.
