Dan Goodchild
Any official, semi-official, or completely fictional speculation on what the story will be with international orders and international shipping? in an effort to alleviate the delays of international shipping, Reaper has booked space with Space-X for distribution from the international space station. the advances in global positioning satellites and orbital insertion technology means your house can now be targeted from space. with this new plan, it is expected that all international deliveries should arrive simultaneously. (you may want to consider the optional insurance) Well, there is an insurance company advertising its coverage of space debris damage, but if you ask for orbital bombardment, that might be considered "friendly" damage. Be very specific when you talk to your insurance agent. But wouldn't the build up of heat from the kinetic energy be a convenience as it would save us a step in preparation? Upon delivery we could immediately put them in cold water to restore the minis shape. @Ladystorm, @Darsc, I like the way you think. I'll be settling up a paddling pool of cold water in the yard and providing it's gps coordinates as my delivery address. So many levels of efficiency and geek-cool tied up in one super-heated bundle! Well, GPS is accurate to within about 3m with military grade equipment (less so with civilian stuff), so you might need a rather big pool. And that assumes that you're using the $10K terminal guidance package. If you're trusting to a ballistic delivery, the best you could reasonably hope for is a CEP of about 100m. I think you're going to need a bigger pool. I can choose from either Lake Erie or Lake Ontario... big enough? dispatchdave
This is my main question.... I heard there were all these nudes on WoK, but when I went to look, I couldn't find many! This isn't to say I like the figures; quite the opposite really. The whole aesthetic doesn't do it for me, which is why I didn't back it. But all of the hate towards scantily clad warriors is old-hat, and kind of boring. -Dave There were not alot of unique nude minis but when you get 18 or 20 of the same topless piece I think that is where all the talk came from Yeah, after seeing the figures, I didn't even bother to see what one got for pledging. I could understand 20 of those big beefy be-pastied girls being a bit much.

Magnus Mercury
Sorry if I was one of the ones bugging you, over all I really liked WOK, and really wanted to back it. the game play was really thought out, it was fast paced and fun. I just wasnt for me personally. a lot of the time I have my little nephews who want to come over and play games with me or some of the teens that I work with enjoy miniatures so knowing that I felt it wasn't the game for me, but I will admit I am a bit on the conservative side. No, not you Lord Dragon (really, no one on the Reaper forums - it's much worse in the WoK KS comments, etc.)! Also, there's the option of just not playing with the offending factions and/or troops (for example, Hadross is pretty "clean", as is Teknes [except for the Union Boss I mentioned - heh]). Unfortunately, I don't know if you could omit certain troops (e.g., Pelagarths) and still have a viable fighting force with that faction. If that's the case, you could always sell/trade the offending models away and work with the other troops for that faction. Anyway, I can totally understand if you have little kids around (especially if they like to play tabletop games), but teens... well, they've already seen much worse, I'm sure. Alex3
Hopefully this time the forum badges will be given to everyone ;.; I never got an email about it and I missed the thread, maybe they'll make it simpler this time :) I've got lots of money this time even though I haven't painted any of the minis from last time... Still gonna spend millions Can't wait for the /tg/ threads, those were great
Moderator Darsc Zacal Posted September 30, 2013 Moderator Share Posted September 30, 2013 I would think that forum badges would still have to be requested as it is requires a manual activation.
Audles
And don't get me wrong, nakedness is awesome. But let's throw some man package and barbarian 6-packs out there too if we're going to do it. Just lady tits and butt for the hell of it is boring in my opinion. Not to mention incredibly impractical from a "this is my badass army and we're fighting in armored combat" scenario. 1) Weren't there plenty of topless and/or minimally-clothed male figures too? The Wrath, Skorza (males are wearing noticeably less than the females), the Great Horn (and the Rathor and Longhorns, to a lesser extent), and others. Also, how come I don't hear so much complaining about the nipple clamps on the topless Union Boss (male figure)? To me, that seems way more extreme than any of the female figures... 2) At least the developers gave an explanation of why the Pelagarths don't bother wearing armor (and the Pelagarths seem to be the target of most of the ire) - they have enchanted masks which make their skin highly resilient. Not everyone may care for that explanation, but at least it wasn't completely ignored. 3) Is it nudity if the minis are technically covered? To my knowledge, none of the WoK minis show actual nudity (and really aren't much more revealing than a bikini). Kingdom Death, on the other hand, has nudity! If someone doesn't like the aethetics, that's a perfectly valid opinion and doesn't really need to be defended. It seems like some people are just trying to turn it into an issue with female sexuality or something. Sorry, this isn't directed at anyone in particular (especially Audles, whom I quoted to reply to his points). It's just that some of the objections to WoK have seemed a little over-the-top and it's been bugging me. I don't feel offended or singled out. I feel brave for sticking up for my perspective. I think this is an important conversation to have, so long as people are being respectful and thoughtful. 1) I don't count having topless Male Animal/Human hybrid figures. That's the standard depiction of those characters. 2) I think that the explanation re: Pelagarth's is a convenient explanation designed to excuse a sculpt of a lady fighting in a thong and knee-high boots. I'd actually respect it more if they'd come out and just said, "yeah, a demon chick in a thong and knee-high boots is awesome and we wanted to sculpt it." 3) It's a misstep, though convenient, to cite nudity. When really what I'm talking about is the portrayal of woman in our fantasy worlds and society. To me, if you're going to do it, it has to be equal or make some kind of sense. People don't fight naked. Further, it's not a game I'd be able to play with my nephew. God forbid I ever had a daughter with these around. I think you're absolutely correct to cite the aesthetics of the design. In this case, for me, the portrayal of woman in the game seemed un-fun and not something I wanted to support. I think it's interesting that there was actually a debate around it -- I didn't look farther than their aesthetic representation of women before making my decision to not support it. I'm honestly happy, and encouraged, by the fact that there was at least a debate on it in the Kickstarter comments. My original comment was really just expressing amazement that I wasn't the only one to feel that way about it. :) My comments on aesthetics by House, if you're interested: Shael Han: Big Sister, almost totally nude. The male counterpart is wearing awesome armor. Nasier: The Pelegarth's, big and little. That's just... Yeah. I'm sure everything worth saying has been said. Skorza: See above, but I don't think having topless werewolves count. That's the standard depiction. The blood dancer cleavage figure is just weird.

Laoke
fwiw, The KS1 cases were a bust. The glue had problems, and the spaces to put the mini's in were too small. Since they were made by a third party, I'm guessing Reaper would use a different party, or not have cases at all. In any (ahem) case, ask questions about the cases before adding them on. I've noticed many KS projects have defects or compromises caused by a rushed schedule (eg. sculpts), and the cases are an example. Myself, since Bones are less fragile than metals and paint stays on them better, I use an inexpensive plastic bead box from Michael's for the human-sized miniatures. I line them up with cotton squares, but am not sure if I really need them. http://www.cardinalenterprises.com/darice_storage_containers_3.htm While I agree that the inexpensive plastic boxes are more than good enough for Bones, especially unpainted, the cases weren't a complete bust. It's a damn slight easier to make the slots bigger than to make bigger ones smaller, I ran out of space in mine before I ran out of Bones that would fit, and the glue issues were overstated from my experience. I'm really happy with mine, and they're really good for the smaller, older metal figures I inherited from my father. I'd certainly buy them again. Apart from anything else - making foam inserts for them is trivial if you absolutely have to.
