Dadcubed
I'd like some more PDF's. particularly some Swords and Wizardry material - adventures and campaigns to use with the rules we got in the last KS?
JoeGKushner
I think that if they're going to offer PDFs or something, they should start with their own works. I was baffled when they offered a 3rd party company gaming book as opposed to Warlord and more baffled when they offered a 3rd party fiction line as opposed to the Warlord fiction book they have currently only available in e-format.
buglips*the*goblin
I have not yet been approached about my phenomenal Sir Guy Garrick The Bold Forscale & Ogre Champion Chieftan story, but my agent stands ready to talk deal. Call me, we'll do brunch.

smokingwreckage
Well I'd love for them to throw in a S&W bestiary in PDF form, assuming they don't throw in Warlord in PDF, which they might not, for, I don't know, reasons. I already have said bestiary. I just think it would be cool.

Especially if they made all the monsters from it during the KS :P
Godfather Punk
Maybe they could do the Learn to Paint guides in pdf too? Way cheaper for the non-US market if you already have minis and paint to practice on.
Rosielicious
Oh man, Reaper are doing another Kickstarter? Before I've got my models from the first one? My paint queue is going to explode! (Nevermind that I've started painting some KS Bones that a friend foolishly left at my house, the queue is still going to be crazy) Maybe Reaper could spend some of the money from the next one investing in transporter technology so us lot outside of America can get our models quicker! :)
Artists Wren Posted September 3, 2013 Artists Share Posted September 3, 2013 Re: PDFs and material from non-Reaper sources. It's not unknown in Kickstarters for there to be some stretch perks that are crossovers or from other sources. If it's a freebie perk, what is anyone losing? What is potentially gained is to bring some of the audience from one over to the other and vice versa. Reaper fans were made aware of authors and game systems they might not have known of before, and fans of those things had a reason to come check out the Reaper KS. When sorting through my personal KS haul my divisions were non-monstrous humanoid; small, medium and large creatures and monstrous humanoids; townsfolk and dungeon dressing; S; and stuff too big to sort with the others. The only two that were on the bubble for me were the dark elves (I think that's what they were), which ended up in the medium monsters pile at request of the GM. I would love to see more creatures, not just monsters. Reaper has a great back catalogue of wolves, big cats, bears and a few others of that type, as well as some of the woodland familiars, and I'd be very happy to see more sculpted. I suspect that historically the metal figures of this type haven't sold super well due to the price, but a big Bones wolf or lion pack starts being a much more feasible thing to put together. Yeah, you can buy a bag of those cheap toy animals, but the sculpts are nowhere near the same quality, and the scale is usually off. I like seeing creatures on the more natural side featured in wandering monster type encounters. Also, I think these are great on the painting side. Kids and lots of people who are not in the hobby love animals, and they tend to have a minimum of fiddly detail. So they're great starter paint projects for children who want to paint along with their parents and people you're trying to lure into painting, Or to paint up as gifts for friends and family members who wouldn't respond well to a snarling orc or necromancer.I also wouldn't mind a few more swarms or monster options that might be a little smaller and less showy, but would be great to have available cheaply enough to buy in number, like the goblins and Pathfinder goblins from the last campaign. And more townspeople. Not even just the existing Reaper sculpts, just as many kinds of non-combatant people as possible. I went in on the Kickstarter with a local friend. When it came time to divide the spoils, I gave him first pick as I have the good fortune of painting for Reaper, so I can trade the sweat of my brush for more if I need them. He was mainly interested in PC types. His group is fine to use tokens like bottle caps and the like for the monsters, but was very happy to get some cheap options for different PCs. So not everyone was sad to see the variety of PCs included in KS1.
Doug Sundseth
Re: PDFs and material from non-Reaper sources. It's not unknown in Kickstarters for there to be some stretch perks that are crossovers or from other sources. If it's a freebie perk, what is anyone losing? I think the perception is that you are losing out on a stretch goal that is more directly related to the core material in the project. But in point of fact, nobody who isn't privy to the inner circle of the project knows for sure. If the company is spending money to get the product from a third-party vendor, then the perception is likely correct. If the third-party company is treating their part of the fulfillment as an advertising expense, then it's at least possible that the backers (even if they're not at all interested in the PDFs) are gaining by the addition of more backers drawn in by the diversion. FWIW, I downloaded the PDFs from the Reaper kickstarter project, but I've not even opened them. (Which is a bit embarrassing since Matt Forbeck is a friend. ) For me, if the levels that unlocked those PDFs had been nearly any figures, I'd have been happier. But, of course, those levels might not even have existed without the PDFs. There's no way for me to know.
smokingwreckage
I think the latter; Reaper needed to pad out some of the costs of the other goals a bit. I liked the PDFs, as I got a free RPG and some cool ebooks that I enjoyed.
aku-chan
I could be remembering it wrong, but I'm sure I read that Reaper feared that needing 100k to unlock the familiar set would cause some epic nerd-rage, so they split it into 2 50k goals using one of the PDF's. Didn't really stop the nerd-rage though.

What about stating it openly in the KS, like "The good guys at GoodGuyCo liked the project enough to throw in a free PDF of the GoodGuyMiniBattleSystem" ? A warlord intro book PDF would be awesome, I'd love to try the game, but allready have and have learned SBH, and always pick out minis instead in the online store xD
klarg1
They're gonna need to come up with a new sculpt if they do another Kraken.Care to elaborate? The first sculpt was a limited edition. I would be concerned that the long, flowing tentacles of the current, limited sculpt might not be able to support themselves in Bones plastic. They are pretty thin, relative to their total length. A new sculpt might not be such a terrible idea anyway. (Although the resin Kraken was a beautiful piece)

However, I'm not going to go look, there are a lot of updates.
